UncleMeano....man you've got to get a life....lol I know I'm not THAT entertaining..lol Thanks for reading this saga.
I made it to the Salt Lake terminal. I stopped in Fernly, NV last night and I must have needed some sleep. I slept for 10 hours. Not something I do very often. I'm usually good for about four to six hours of sleep. Anyway, I slept in, missed calling my wife as she was already out the door and working. That many horses don't wait quietly for breakfast.
The day started out pretty great. Beautiful, sunny morning, not much traffic, and lots of open road. That lasted for several hours. I kept looking for the storm I had expected the night before...I found it. I guess the road didn't turn real bad until the salt flats outside of SL. I think there was one bunch of 3 cars spun out and another bunch of 4. The wind was blowing pretty good and the snow was drifting. I'm pretty sure the folks off the road hadn't slowed down one bit. It was a little dicy going through that area but that was pretty much it. I found the terminal ok and luckily found a place to park.
I had sent a msg to my DL and asked about T calling the load here for local delivery. All I got back was "can ask". Did this mean I was supposed to ask the he was? I never heard anything back so I asked. I was told to ask again tomorrow when the planner got back. The answer was probably going to be no since freight is so slow. It is odd that the T Call row here is packed with loaded trailers...mmm. I wonder if I can set this load down and get some local work over the next few days and then make my delivery on Tuesday? Something to think about.
It's snowing here and I'm pretty sure that by Tuesday it's going to be miserable getting around. I wish I knew someone in SL as I'm darn tired of sitting in my truck to eat. A table would be really nice. I think I need to plan my trips through places I know folks.
New folks....BRING A TOWEL. The terminals don't have them. I loaned a guy a clean towel as he said he was going to have to dry with his shirt.Bigdubber and UncleMeano Thank this. -

Hang in there Sherrif. It can be slow the first quarter of the year with all types of loads, and the wonderful weather al over the country does not help The so called "Spring is right around the corner"
Bigdubber Thanks this. -
Having spent the night here in SLC I'm really wondering why anyone built a city here. What's with the snow? I'm ready for spring. I think age does that to you.
I'm not sure if I've stumbled on to something or not. I ended up getting this load to SLC because I took a really short run and helped them out at the Lathrop terminal. I went in today and talked with the planner about T calling my load here as it doesn't deliver until Tuesday. He offered me a 40 mile run that's a driver unload and then stacked a run to Forth Worth. Since the the one load is more miles then I've had all week, I said yes. I wonder....if you go in and offer to make a few local deliveries, will they then more more likely to put a load on you with longer miles?
I'm already hooked up and ready to roll out to Orem, UT in the morning. I'll have completed a 34hr reset and I should be good for several days.
For those interested, the first week of Feb. I had 1300 miles and my take home after taxes, loan, and insurance, was $215. I have fewer miles this week. -
Bigdubber Thanks this.

Sheriff, lake effect snow! Isn't it great!?
those miles are no Bueno. I've been sitting on my current load for 3 days, waiting for delivery tomorrow at 1500. I'm still above 2000 miles for the week, somethin ain't right! -
Green_20 Thanks this.

Swift's referral program...
"give me his name and get the $&%# out of my office, NOW!"
lol, I actually don't know if we have a referral program, swift certainly does not need to pay for new drivers. For every 1 SWIFT driver, there are 10 more willing to take his spot. -
