mdmedicgod Thanks this. -
The evo's aren't supposed to come out until July. I thought Prime was opposed to auto's but I did hear they are ordering some of the new evolution trucks, and I think the main fuel saving aspect of that truck is with the auto transmission.

This is a manual transmission, primarily Freightliner carrier. Dimes to donuts the only tractors with an auto in them will be a machine specifically ordered that way by a long-term lease operator for his use. New drivers especially don't want to be near an auto - it limits your ability to move to other carriers.
neversatisfied1980 Thanks this. -
Never say never. We used to say that here. Many companies are using them now. Maverick has seen lower maintenance cost and increased overall fleet mpg.
The. Evolution dont start shipping till June. It has several new technologies like predictive cruise. -
Hi I'm a new for this forum.
Please someone inform me about Prime truck shortage.
Thank you -
It's a manufacturing production problem. Freightliner, Peterbilt, et al will catch up with demand eventually if they haven't already done so.

Prime just had to outfit two new Walmart DC contracts we picked up with trucks to run those operations.
I met a couple of the new local hires for Shelbyville, TN a couple weeks ago at the terminal. They were sent to Springfield for Orientation and were told the trucks were already enroute and would be waiting for them when they returned to TN.
Talked to another guy who towed a couple trucks from Springfield to the Olney, IL DC while his truck was in for body repair. No particular model or age of lightweights, mix of '11-13s. I mentioned the available Success Leasing truck line between the trailers and the office end of the building was a little bare with only a small handful of trucks the last time I was through the terminal. He said that there were quite a few trucks on that line now.
Not to mention Prime having to assign trucks to the usual intake of new driver's, trainee upgrades and recent comments by management indicate that turnover is at the lowest rate its been in a number of years.
