Both i would say. My step dad wants to sell me his 04 pete with a 300 wb and i dont know the first thing about owner operating. I was wondering what all would i have to have in order before i start driving since i wouldnt being leasing on threw schneider. I would still drive for them under choice but wouldnt be buyin threw them

wow, ok first off what side of trucking do you really want to do? flatbed, dry box reefer? at lot depends on wether you authority or not. both will help us to help you.I prefer not having my own authority any more and would'nt do any thing but flat bed.

How much for the truck?
-
He wants 35000 and has 350,000 orginal miles. I would prefer not to do flatbed but i would do which ever made my take home higher. My monthly truck payment will be right around 600

I was wondering what all costs I would have once I buy it and then monthly and how not to fail

nice payment.well being an O/O has alot of advantages, more freedom.your best bet to start out in my opinon would be to lease on with a good company.Mercer has both dry box and flatbed, you can lease to own the trailers thru them, great people to work with and great drivers for support.there is money do be made in both, with flatbed you have a little more. oversize loads pay good, but is more work.I had my own authority before i went to Mercer, tons of paper work, can be very overwhelming.Mercer and Landstar among others all you need is a truck, clean Lisence you decide where you want to run and when you go home, but remember that owning your own truck means repair's are on you,so if you dont run you really feel it in your pocket. If I were you I would call Mercer or Landstar and just talk to the recruiters, the money you make will really depend on how hard you are willing run and how long you stay out.just because you own the truck should'nt mean your never home,i was out 3wks at a time now im out 2wks home 2-4 days and go back out.

Costs you will have, truck payment, insurance, fuel, maintanence, trailer rent or lease, tolls, and heavy use tax, we all pay that one.if you lease on to someone. the list is longer with your own authority.
