Hey guys, I'm trying to find a decent trucking company to go with, but under these 2 conditions:

    1) I own a pet. So I need a company that has a pet policy. This is a MUST.

    2) I need sponsored or company training. I have very little money to put down on training, so I'm looking for a company that will put me through school on a loan.

I checked out Prime...they meet both those specifications, but I'm a little hesitant about their training program that forces you to drive with a trainer for up to 6 months. No offence, I'm a pretty sociable guy, but I certainly don't look forward to eating/sleeping/living/waking-up 24 hours a day with a stranger for nearly 6 months.

I read that Central Refrigerated reinstated their pet policy; give em' a call and ask.

that is up to 6 months, if you have trouble with getting everything down and learning it all it could be 6 months.it is designed for those who take a little longer to learn it all. good luck

I used to be at Prime, unless things have changed, you could possibly get the entire training program done in 3ish months. 1 month as a CDL student, and then 2 months (40,000 miles) as a trainee at at least $600 a week. After that you get your own truck at 32-42 CPM depending on truck and running location (32CPM base, 5CPM for lightweight truck, 5CPM for northeast regional).

I doubt you'll find a trainer willing to take Fido on his truck.

Have u ever considered that ur demands are trivial to any company willing to give u a chance? Why dont u worry about what a company demands from u and meet those demands so u can get ur career started? U need to think about your priorities I mean after u r trained and do ur minimum xp u can move on dude where it best suits u. Do u understand what im telling u? U have narrowed ur self to two companies....just be smart about ur future.

Another driver that was given a fair chance. Gov't pays $7500(our Taxes) to train him but fido can't go. So he quits and there goes our tax dollars. Tell me again how this job training program works.
Suck it up dude. Do what you have to do to support yourself. Fido is second thoughts. I'm tired of supporting you.
I guess I'm a little out of line here.
You are just starting out on a new career, trucking or what ever. How can you have the balls to say, that company has to allow your dog to go with you. Get your priorities in order. Once you are experienced for many years, then yes, you can go with a company on your demands, but not starting out.
In my 15 years of driving I have never taken my dog/dogs on the road. But I leave them behind to protect/comfort my wife.

to the OP. Don't go with Prime starting out. They will convince you to sign a FLEECE contract plus being mostly a reefer outfit, most food distribution centers don't allow dogs on thier property.

Look into Con-Way, they have both a pet policy and they loan you the funds. The post graduation finisher time is 10k miles. Fido will have to bunk elsewhere until you get certified but that won't be long.
