ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A three-vehicle wreck on US 59 North in Angelina County has slowed traffic for nearly two hours while crews clean up the scene.
The wreck occurred at 7:44 a.m. in the Redland area.
Both lanes of northbound traffic are being routed in the center turn lane.
Trooper Joshua Senn said Nicky Williams, 48, of Gary, was driving an 18-wheeler on the southbound side and he said a car pulled in front of him, causing him to slam on his brakes, jackknife and go into the northbound lanes and hit two other vehicles.
One of the vehicles was a Toyota Tundra, driven by Michael Ochoa, 51, who was taken to a Lufkin hospital for injuries. Senn did not know how serious the injuries were, but said he was responsive at the scene.
The other vehicle was a Ford Ranger, driven by James Henson, 32, of Lufkin. He was not injured.
The truck carried diesel fuel but was empty. However, diesel fuel from the cab spilled onto the highway and a HAZMAT crew is on the scene cleaning it up.
Waited through this one today. 4 wheelers looked really bad, will be suprised if no fatalities. Weather was light rain, slick roads, and everyone was hauling @@@, including trucks. The article says the truck was a diesel hauler, but in the pics in the article, it looks like some kind of bulk truck.
Stay safe
