Any rational person would agree that no one should operate a truck under the influence of any mind altering substance. I know I'm in the minority here, I just think a person should be able to do whatever they want in their off time as long as they don't put anyone else in harm. Personal freedom. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

I personally think the marijuana laws are absurd, but they are what they are. Ineffective. Pointless. I don't partake of it, and have no intention to even with the passage of Amendment 64 in Colorado. Of course having a CDL and FFL plays into it, but I'd rather have those than a bag of weed. If someone wants to get stoned, I really couldn't care less, so long as I don't end up having to pay for them to live the "stoner lifestyle". I think it's perfectly feasible that someone can have a toke every now and then and still be able to take care of themselves and live responsibly. And they should be held to that.

well, thats true that it isnt required by law to test office employees but either is hair follicle testing for drivers...they seem to have plenty of extra money that all urine tests for drivers are also required to submit to a hair follicle test (large clump of hair). money is no object it seems, so why not make sure the office staff is drug free too? in the name of safety?

im only half serious, personally i think hair follicle testing is a ridiculous waste of money for testing drivers but if theyre so concerned the managers of these drivers drive to work everyday and are in charge of around seventy drivers...shouldnt they be drug tested as well in the name of public safety?

This whole subject is stupid. You can not smoke dope and drive a commercial truck. There's no give-a-ways or his doctor said this or it will be ok. It's NOT ALLOWED. So please stop trying to induce your medical opinion on how great it is to use with some ailments. Or how it's going to turn you into a government dependant bum steeling for your next fix. Until the federal government changes the law and makes it legal like alcohol then there is absolutely NO discussion on why a drivers may use marijuana. It all doesn't matter. He or she is guilty unless the test was done incorrectly.

For personal opinions I'll state mine. They will have an extremely hard time testing a person for marijuana since they can not tell when a person took the drug. We all know the markers hang around in your system for weeks and someone that got high two weeks ago is not high now. Under the law now, if you test within the positive guildelines you're considered under the influence and your really not. That alone tells any civil person with any common sense that if you drive a truck you do not mess with Marijuana. You do not roll the dice on your career unless you're just that type of person.

People with medical problems where marijuana does help then I believe they should go to the doctor and get the script. So away, anything that helps is compassionate. If Chemo makes you sick to your stomach and marijuana gives you the power to eat then by all means do it. Follows the laws and get relief. You just can not do all the life items you did before. But that shouldn't matter since recovery is on everyone's minds.

I hope that this issue will not be combined and expressed as govrnment BS anymore. Of course we all know it will be but we should all just say it's illegal and stop there. Do not fall into the argument that's not on topic. Recommend that the person go to another site to discussed his or hers political views. There's a time a place for everything and using marijauna does NOT have a place in TRUCKING.

You're right Daddy's girl and I'm sorry for my outburst. I've lost so many people to cancer and my closest relative is taking chemo now. I sat with hubby in the chemo room for a year and I never heard him mention his truck once. He never even went back for his CB, tools, or carharts.

I guess I'm all wound up from school & work this week. I come to TTR to learn and I keep seeing the same horse beaten over and over again.

Urine tests are very easy to cheat, that's why some companies use the hair follicle test.

Driver i am not sure but my guess is the hair test will give them the back 6 months or a year that most company's are testing for so if a driver is doing coke or other drugs besides pot that are easier to clean your self for a test than go back to it and go undetected till a wreck or what have you

Please don't think my post was lashing out at anyone. It's hard to get your tone across on a forum. I was just stating how I feel and my views only. I wasn't painting all cancer patients with a broad brush.
