This container is under 40K, our empty full of fuel 35.5 In any other state we would not have any problems. Now we are sitting at the scale, and I have no idea how to handle this situation

Are you saying this is #3???????

When I picked up loads at the port of Oakland they would always be heavy on chassis tandems. So I would get going a little and slam on brakes to make load shift forward. This with adjusting five wheel plate would always correct problem.
-
We are puling a step deck, so trick with chassis would't work.
I am so pissed, it is unbelievable! Customer will not allow to open container and reload. We are sitting under this load for 2 days now. I called the agent (like all freaking day), advisor (which suggested for us not to take containers anymore), landstar customer service.....
I was asked if we can load 40ft high cube container on load levelers to utilize upper deck.... The last thing is that we are waiting on crane and another trailer to take this crap of our trailer.
I do not know how other BCO's handling containers out of California. -
Why not just buy an overweight permit?? I know on my blanket permits for VA, a container going to or from a port doesnt fall under the reducable load rule.
Or can you even get a over weight trip permit in CA??Last edited: Feb 13, 2013

Not our case. We are over only on the axle. Anyway LS just left us on the scale for today. We will see what happens tomorrow
losttrucker Thanks this. -
After you get out of Ca, spread the axles and go, it you can spread them.
The railroad should pay the fines and detention if this is one of their hot loads that missed the train.losttrucker Thanks this. -
You can buy a purple permit which is good for overweight BUT, you must be over 80k before it goes into effect.losttrucker Thanks this.

Landstar just told us that it was our responsibility to catch the weight of the container before we took it. Now we have to pick up a chassis at port, pay for a crane to move container on them and bring the load to MI, then deadhead back with container. We have to leave our trailer in CA

Is this a live unload of the container, at the consignee, or will it be flipped off at a yard? If it is just going to be flipped, you might try just turning it around, on your trailer. Since it is a high cube, forget the upper deck and levellers, it is too high.
