I went to the DMV yesterday and got a copy of my driving record. It only goes back 3 years. I had a violation in 2011 in a pickup. I have had a few tickets in the past none in a CMV. I had a wreck about 5 years ago I think. It was my fault and I was given a citation. My question is how/where do I get a copy of of my entire driving history. I need to know the dates of that accident so I can put it on my applications. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I've found with most companies (having applied to several since joining the trucking industry) realistically just want to know, more or less, that an accident/incident has happened.
You wouldn't be the first to ball park a date of an accident/ticket, and just so long as you list it- you really should be fine. -
typically a company will ask if have had an accident either in the last 3 or the last 5 years...most seem to be 3 yrs...

In California its called an H-6 and it goes back ten years so they say. When I got my H6 it went all the way back to when I was 16. I then had it purged and it took everything off. Not sure what its called in Arkansas.

Here in MN. you can choose a 5 year history or 10 year history, one of the administrators at my school told me the 5 year history would suffice for most carriers. It might differ if you have something big beyond those 5 years, From what I have read here in these forums honesty will get you a lot further. Just let them know up front, one accident 5 years ago should not be a problem at all.

Be truthful only give what they ask for and put a question mark next to the date you put .. I live in NC and just got my record and it went back over 20 years when i lived in another state . I hope them few tickets are over 3 years and if they are bad reckless or speeding over 15 DUI and the likes it better b over 5 +
About the 3 years if that's all they give don't worry the company will/can go back farther -
How did you get your driving record purged??? Is is just a California thing, or can anyone do it in any state???

I've never had any serious moving violations. The worst that has happend was I had my license suspended 6 years ago for not paying a seatbelt ticket. I payed it and got my license re-instated no problem. I shoulda just paye the thing and went on, but pride got in the way and I payed more money in the end for it.
On my record right now is a Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device. That was in July 2011. But I did have a wreck in 2005 that I was sighted for, and a seatbelt in 2006ish. Neither one of these are on my record. I will just remember to tell my recruiter when I talk to them. I'm probably sweeting the small stuff but I don't want to get dates wrong and them think I'm trying to get by with something. None of my violations have ever been in a CMV.
