Good point. Mine will run for 12 to 14 hours then have to turn the truck on for ten mins to charge them back up. But the inverters work well. Until you plug in something that pulls more than 900 watts, it will trip it. If I'm at home when it gets really cold just plug it in the house. It doesn't pull as much juice like a block heater

Trans-Am has them on all their trucks

Buy a small diesel camping generator and mount it on the catwalk. Some of those are almost silent running. The only problem is, finding diesel fuel for it.

Husband had APU with Stevens trans...just finding out about life without APU now, been with current co. 3mnths. Will see what summer brings. Did see some small units (A/C units) while looking online that, if I understand correctly, charges a battery pk while truck is running, then runs off batt for a few hrs. Gonna keep checking..can't remember what site or how much. Need reviews/opinions on such devices..do they help.

Does anyone know if Central reefers have APU's installed in them?
-
My question is how does this work w/non idle areas across the US. Their is a list http://www.arcticbreeze-truckac.com/content/no-idle.html.
Also, how does Central monitor the idle time within the 30% determined? Want to do the right thing, just want to understand policy.
