As a new driver I had my first oh S--T! two days after I went solo. I didnt cause an accident or anything I got out of it. But It would be a nice question. What was your first OH S--t! moment? As a newbie I know I would like to hear them. Or anything that would refer to a time when they thought How am I going to get out of this. My first one was I was coming out of Wisconsin and blew a tire. I pulled over to the side of the road. It was the inside rear trailer tire last set on the tandem. Well when I pulled over and got out to set triangles it seemed my trailer looked like it was swaying. Unbelievably my trailer was sliding into a small ditch. I was like oh S--t! Thank goodness it did not roll over. I had to call a wrecker to lift one end up and roll it back onto the pavement using railroad ties. He said I pulled a little to far off the pavement. I should always leave one set on the pavement. The problem was that there was really no shoulder. I was just trying to get off the road. I tell you what. I was sooo thankful that it wasnt that bad. I was embarressed but it could have been worse.
It may help new drivers learn what to avoid. Sometimes Oh S--T moments teach you so much. I know I sure learned. -
Truckclub, This DID NOT happen to me but it happened to a co worker. My company is based in Forest Park, GA. If anyone is based in Forest Park, GA they know this to be true. Forest Park/Jonesborough GA is home to 25-30 trucking companies and its really not a big town. Forest Park and Jonesborough has a city ordinance that you cannot park a TT ANYWHERE!!!. Not at McDonalds, Wal-Mart, anywhere. It better be your company or a truck stop. IF YOUR TRUCK IS SPOTTED IT CAN BE TOWED ON SIGHT!!!! Wreckers frequently drive around looking for law breakers. A fellow co-worker was waiting for a Fresh Express load (I run for KLLM) he decided he wanted to get some things at Wal-Mart while waiting for his load time. He went in to Wal-Mart he said for about 30 mins. When he came out he saw his rig on a wrecker with the Forest Park Police right behind it! Oh S--t! He didn't want to tell the company because we are always warned about the parking ordinance. So he had to pay out his pocket. I think it was about $750.00. Needless to say he was late for the Fresh Express load which is right around the corner from KLLM, and if anybody pulled for Fresh Express lateness is NOT tolerated. They want you there a minimum of one hour before your load time.
Now that I think about it an Oh S--t! section might incriminate our fellow drivers. They might comment on it they might not but I like to hear experiences. -
Thanks for sharing your OH S__T Moments xXDarthVaderXx!!!
Those were good ones!!! =)
THANKS
