Bobtailing to Daytona? Dang I might be tempted to stay through the weekend and watch some racing. We dheaded from Wi. to Murray, Ky to pick up a load that had two stops in Birmingham this morning. Now we're just waiting on a load, they gave us a load out to California, but it didn't deliver until Thursday and were supposed to be home next weekend. I told them we could drop it at a yard in California Sunday night or Monday morning, but they bawked at that idea, so here we sit.
-
Yep bob tailing. I'm guessing dispatch forgot y'all were a team, that's too much time on that load, would have been great for a solo driver. Hopefully you'll get something soon if not already.
-
Well after sitting for 5 hours dispatch decided to give us the load to California anyway, so we bounced over to Olive Branch, Ms. and grabbed the trailer. We will drop at the Riverside yard Sunday, do some laundry and start heading back East. Enjoy the weekend and be safe.
-
Made it to Daytona Beach earlier to recover an empty, after hooking to the trailer i figured while i was on Atlantic Ave when not walk cross the street to get a view of the ocean front. Walked out onto the beach noticed i was on the end where the autos are able to drive cross the beach as well. Looks like I'm gonna be layed over the rest of the weekend havent heard anything from dispatch tried calling twice no answer, I'd rather stay parked here that way im able to get out move around walk the strip rather than sitting at the Loves.
runningman0661 Thanks this. -
I bob tailed to Miami waiting it out at the 129mm

Dropped in Riverside, Ca. And grabbed another produce load headed back Gordonsville, Va. for Wed. morning. After we drop I'm way over due for a service, so gonna try and get to the yard and get that done. Then get a load to the house for 3 or 4 days off.
-
Well we delivered at 0400 this morning at wal Mart in Gordonsville, Va.. We bounced down to the yard in Richmond to put the truck in the shop for an over due PM. After the truck got out of the shop we got with dispatch and since I'm due for home time Friday they gave me a load out of Boars head load loading at 1700 today delivering in Charleston, SC in the A M and then I will most likely dhead home for home time. So I cut Shawn loose this afternoon and will pick him back up hopefully sometime Monday.
They just got in about 20 more new trucks and found out I will be switching into one of those next week. This truck only has 182757 miles on it, but there selling some of the trucks with 400k miles an continuing to updating the fleet. All new trucks from this point forward will have the cattle catchers on the front.
I keep hearing from other drivers from other companies that think we are a Usxpress company..... That couldn't be farther from the truth. Granted at one time during the economic downturn a few years ago USX did own a size able part of Abilene, but the family has since bought back all but 3% of the company. We are a whole seperate entatity, they really have no say in how this company is run. We are treated as individuals here not truck numbers. I have had a few guys say out if ignorance that they would never drive here since we fall under the USX umbrella. All I can say is oh well... I'm treated well, kept in good well maintained equipment and they have the freight to keep me moving and give me the consistent miles. If all works out as planned I should have 3.5 days and 4 nights at the house to recharge my batteries and head out for another round. Be safe and productive. -
I considered Abeline at one time, but far, far too much I-95 for my taste. Sounds like a quality outfit, though.
-
There is some I95 but not as much as you would think. I go into the NE about 1 a month. I was running more Ohio, Michigan, and Florida a lot before I started training. Now basically been doing a lot of coast to coast.
