Hey, if the guys happy there, that's really all that matters.A lot of folks got their start there. They don't pay near what a lot of other companies pay, but I guess the trade off is you get to beat up a nice Pete or Kenworth while you learn instead of a freightliner.Whatever floats your boat is how I look at it.Me, I'd take the freightliner and the extra dime a mile, but to each his own.
Werner is a good company

Gotta jump in here again. I do not see where he was running down any other companies. He mentions about Swift and others being in the ditch, well from my experience. I have seen more wrecked Swift trucks than from any other company. So that is just a fact. I still maintain, its nice to see someone post that is happy with their job. As far as Werner is concerned,I thought about signing on with them back around 1992, but they have always been known as a company who keeps you out for extended periods of time,6 to 8 weeks out to me is a long time. I wanted a little more control; over my life. As an O/O in the 90s I stayed out many times for two months, but that was by choice. My last time out ending in May of this year, I never turned the CB on unless it was for weather conditions, scalemaster, etc. Way too much trash on it anymore. I have stated my opinions on here about Swift, having driven for them for a short time, course so have many others. And yeah I know some people driving for Swift who like it. My feeling is good for them. Same way with someone driving for Werner who likes their job. Somebody has to drive them big blue trucks. As far as Petes,KWs,etc. I would much rather drive a Freightliner or Volvo and make a decent living. Truth of the matter is in Dec. of 1994,I bought a brand new Volvo bodied truck, complete with a 430 Detroit Series 60,and a Super 10 trans.and 3:70 gears. It was a comfortable truck and served the purpose well, and it cost about $15,000 less than a new 379 Pete.Seems to me the main reason to be out there driving a truck is to make a good paycheck, not the brand of truck you are driving, and being satisfied with a company,Werner or whoever else you are driving for. I found it nice to hear someone was happy with Werner. Anyway keep the shinyside up and Merry Christmas to all of you .
When I sold that Volvo in 1998 I went right over to a Chevy dealer and bought a 1998 Chevy 4 wheel drive pickup. It suited me a lot better.

No one here is downing on him for driving for wernner. He was shooting of at the mouth to people who have nothing to do with him getting upset. Why did he have to mention anything about people bein to stupid to do their logs? Why did he brag about makin it through an ice storm that thousansd of other drivers did too? Here is how he could have put it to get his point acrros without trying to make himself fel better then everyone else and do it without the attitude and insults.
I have been with wernner for 6 months now. They have done right by me so far.If any new guys are thinkin about them,I might be able to answer some questions for you.I know alot of people dont like them, but I get a paycheck and thats all that matters to me...Like I said ,they have been decent to me so far.Oh yeah one more thing. If you guys see a wernner truck headed your way, please refrain form trying to make that driver feel stupid about who he drives for.I am still pretty new and under enough stress already. The last thing I need is some clowns out there tryin to make my day even harder. There is already enough junk on the CB.Everyone had to start somwhere right? So next time you see a werner truck, instead of talkin down to that person give em a wave and it could be me.... -
I have heard so good and some bad about werner inc. I would like to know how is there home time how much could i expect realy. I am trying to go regional and like to be home maybe every weekend but want to make good money so what do you guys think?

I'm sorry, I keep seeing references on this forum in several places about a "super-trucker". Can someone please educate the ignorant (me) and tell me just exactly what a super-trucker is?
-
My understanding of a super trucker is a person who makes meals out of red bulls and no doze pills so they can drive 20 hours a day. They would also be extremely arrogant and brag about every aspect of driving. They would also claim that they know every thing there is to know about driving...
-
Lol, arrogance and conceit probably doesn't get you very far with the average Joe trucker. The days of driving mega-hours are over - how can you get away with it? And who wants to live like that, anyhow.
-
I could care less if another guy drives longer than me. or knows more than me.
hell i drive to make my money and have a little fun. i don't give a #### about what Joe Blow does or does not do.venne Thanks this. -
and i with all my heart believe you are a recruiter
-
and i would bet my last dollar you are correct!
