Ok, I have to ask... You were 17 and she was 16 and the system pretty much screwed you for life? You do know you have to register as a sex offender for life right? Did you have an attorney when this happened? He/She advised you to plead no contest? Id look into getting a good lawyer on this case to try to find if there was something wrong here in the conviction. It seems a little cruel and unusual punishment to me... heck, you were a freaken kid. Did the girl say you raped her? Something is NOT adding up here.

Not all states have at the age of 16 a consent law.

I understand this... but the boy... YES boy was 17... He didn't have consent either. It seems a little harsh to screw his life up for this kids mistake... Something doesn't add up here. He likely was also scared and was advised improperly if this is what happened... I'd suggest to him that he, spend the money and get a real attorney to look into this for him... His whole life is at stake here... Sex offender convictions do not fall off or EVER go away. Just sayin

I agree, something doesn't sound right, definitely worth looking into. To just give you a little hope, I have known a few ex felons that did over 5 years in the state pen. that work construction or plow snow for the state. Those jobs usually pay better and have you home every day anyway. Look into a lawyer and if you can get into construction you might be able to work your way up to a driving position and they may pay for you to get your CDL. Everyone on here likes to blast people the first chance they get and try and crush their dreams. I agree most OTR jobs will not hire you do to your age or the record but that is only one aspect of truck driving. There are many jobs out there and people will give you a chance, you just need to be patient and look around. If your in farm country they hire seasonal help all the time during harvest. Good luck with what ever you end up doing.
