i have had only one company check my credit while applying for a job; NEMF.

i have no idea why they did?

But no, most companies don't check credit, i don't the crete does, but even if they do, i don't think you have anything to worry about.

And, in general, i don't think you have anything to worry about concerning your credit and applying for jobs especially if your MVR, criminal, and work history and DAC are good.

Some companies do check your credit history. In fact when I requested a copy of my USIS (DAC) report two months ago it was in that. Having said that, some companies won't hire you with a bad credit history because if you are having financial issues then supposedly you are a risk. There have been drivers that sold fuel, tires, loads and other miscellaneous items. This is true with companies that haul high dollar merchandise like computers electronics etc. They figure that some people will steal the stuff and sell it. I've heard them selling almost anything you can name on the CB and I know most everyone here has.
I wouldn't stress over your credit history. In fact there are some questions that it's illegal for any employer to ask. If there is something on the application that you don't feel is their business then don't respond or put N/A
I know that some insurance companies look at your credit history. I asked one about that and they told me it was to see if you were a risk for making fraudulent claims.
I'd just go with the flow, get a copy of your MVR, DAC, get your resume together and go for it. You won't know until you try.
