Now it is a "time out"........geeze! They wonder why the younger generation is so f-d up!
Respect and courtesy is something most parents now days do not teach! -
Race. Thats a subject that most people dont want to talk about but we all know we have lost our sense of community. We live in a society where some racial groups are required to assimilate while others are allowed (in fact encouraged) to segregate themselves. Some groups of our society are encouraged to treat other groups with disrespect (watch Chris Rock laugh at the "crackers"). When you teach your children to be fearful and untrusting of another race, they grow into adults who do not interact with other groups.

Times have changed. It is a me, me, me attitude plus time restrictions. Plus drivers are a bit fearful of helping people now a days on the road because of stories of drivers either being mugged or even killed for a good deed. I have had opportunities to help people but my conscience says to me "is it safe?" It really is a hard decision to make. If someone is hurt or injured a phone call can help but a tire change situation.......near a tree line.......you never know. I guess we just have to deal with the bad attitudes and show how professional we can actually be.

Most of the ones are company drivers racing to get to places, driving slower and proper trip planning goes a long ways. You don't need to be going fast to save that 15min, if you really need that extra 15 min to be legal your dispatch didn't do there job rite to allow for safe travel in ample amount of time. Nothing you haul is never worth hurting anyone or anything. But a lot of people don't get this concept anymore.

It doesn't need to be this way, either. We're in this together, why not make the best of it?critters and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this. -
Sometimes I think the newer trucks are too easy to drive. Almost feels like you're in a car.. and maybe that lends itself to people (mainly new drivers) not respecting their size and weight as much as they should. They likely keep driving that way until they screw up.. then maybe they get a clue. Maybe.
Also I think the me-first mentality plays a huge role.. That attitude in itself is, generally speaking, self-reinforcing. Ie., driver might start out being considerate to others, but finds others aren't to them, so why be considerate... then they become less considerate themselves. Its a viscious cycle that feeds itself. Its likely being going on for quite sometime, but like a snowball rolling down a hill, its becoming a bigger problem every year.Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this.
