I moved my antenna from the mirror bracket to a puck mount on the roof. Will the horns have any effect on performance or efficiency?
I also tried to insulate the cb mount from vibration:
I'm currently putting an access hole in the headliner to the bottom of the puck for antenna matching and what not.
critique on my new antenna mount please

That looks like a winner. I recently saw another Pete with one mounted in the middle behind the cab. You should get good reception.
Draped up and drifted out. Know what I'm talking about? Three in the morning, just stashed up my stash spot. -
As the horns are below the coil, I doubt they'll affect it much. They will have some effect, but it should be negligible. As long as you get a good SWR you shouldn't have any problems.. Except for maybe the odd low hanging obstruction..hehe

Very nice install and should work great. Attaboy! It sure is good to see more drivers taking the time to install their radios/antennas correctly. What radio are you going to be running in that reduced vibration mount of yours? More pics of truck please? That's one nice looking Pete.

Either one of these:

Most likely the S6 for a while, I just got it and have not used it yet. -
I see the one picture of the backing plate with the coax in view. Where is the ground/shield lug?
I hope the backing plate has continuity to ground (not electrical) to the frame. If you make an access hole, how will you do "antenna matching and what not" with lugs? I would understand if it were a pl259 fitting, you might want to place the swr meter at the feed point.

There is a slot machined in the retaining ring where the shield is wrapped around the outer jacket of the coax and sandwiched between it and the backing plate, the backing plate has continuity to the roof panel, I sanded the black paint off the ceiling.
I thought I could tune the antenna with the MFJ 259b, I hope I didn't overlook something. -
No, nothing added. This is the mount I chose:
