Nonsense. You're unhappy with the company so you felt you should blame the current administration. All I did was point out that there is separate part of the forums where you can do that as much as you like.

    That was the CONTEXT.

You bet! I work there and have for the last 8 years or so. The grass always looks greener on the other side. I know this from experience as I have left there three times and always seem to come back. Bottom line is, their money is good and it never bounces. On average, you are home every other night. Even on the extra board, you can gross 60k a year. Since this thread first started, the Fountain office has gone through an extensive overhaul. They now have added an assistant terminal mgr, three new dispatchers, a payroll person and several new mechanics. It is not perfect but is much better. And let me say that before anyone makes the accusation, I am not in any way affiliated with mgt. I am just a driver. I bought my last truck in 94 and I will never buy another one! I make more net money driver their truck than I ever did driving my own, and I need not waste all my home time working on the #$%^& thing. I just give them the keys and go home.

I can think of a number of other companies that you genuinely don't know when you are going to get home and I am not talking about just needing a second ten hour break before you get there.

I came on here tonight thinking I would post some driver openings at some of our terminals because I get a referral bonus for those that I refer, but in light of this thread, I think I will not waste my time.

I might also add that all FF terminals are independently managed so if you don't like one, check out another one.

Several things about your post. How old are you, How long have you been driving in the industry, and how long have you been with them, How old are your kids and how long have you been married if at all 3 questions there.
When you say they expect you to live out of your truck Most regional Drivers are expected to be out 21 days at minimum for most companies 1 day off for each week out with a max of 4 off. That is about the industry standard. This is not a job for anyone with a family that has small children involved. The other thing is your a truck driver and living in your truck is part of the job. When you run your mouth and complain they will give you spit for miles. That is how it is. Grocery delivery is different from anything else because of the interaction with the warehouses and stores
Vehicle Maintenance and safety is a completely different ball game. That is what DOT and OSHA are for. That's your call not mine. There is an industry standard that must be kept that was implemented with CSA 2010. It holds both companies and drivers responsible for their actions and eventually intervention.
Idle time. The only time you need to idle is if your warming the engine at first start or stopped to open doors, at a stop light or stop sign or waiting to turn. They are not required to provide A/C although that is a humane thing to do but they must by law provide heat in the winter. So if you have a bunk heater there is your heat when your sitting and waiting. If there is no bunk heater than by law they must let you idle. Sleep Apnea requires an inverter for the breathing machine and they have to allow the inverter as well. You as a driver should know your rights and if you feel that truck is not safe you can refuse to drive it and they by law can't fire you. All I am saying is learn your rights. Your dispatcher handles you the way you speak to them. Same thing with the shop. If your loud with them well they will do nothing for you. Personally my mouth is shut and will stay that way. I am just happy to have a job will run my tush off. I am prepared for the coldest of weather in any condition. Food keep 2 weeks at all times. Finding places well that's what electronic toys are for.
If your that unhappy there leave. They probably don't want your winy ### anyway.
During all of my reading your comments I gather you lack some common sense to get the job done. May I suggest you make my roads safer and find some other field to work in. Go flip burgers and clear the road so us real drivers came make it over the pass. Before you say it I will back, drive and shift circles around you after the pre trip inspection.

I worked for FF out of the Cleveland TN terminal, doing Kroger dry grocery deliveries. I enjoyed the job itself, I liked delivering to the stores, the DC end was drop and hook both in and out. My problem was being on the extra board. There is no guarantee of work on any given day. You have to call in twice a day to see if there are runs available, which means that you can never make any type of plans for the next day. If you call and they have a load for you, you must be ready to run by the gate-time on that load. Might be in the morning or it might be afternoon or evening. It's a horrible way to live because there is no consistency to your schedule. At the Cleveland terminal, the manager told me it would be 5-6 years before I would have enough seniority to bid a whole weeks' worth of work.
