I ask these questions often which i haven't asked one in a while but this one involves an 2006 International Eagle I'm looking at.. it has 740,000 miles on it and has an ISX Cummins in it. I know from past experiences that these Cummins go through EGR's and Turbo's like it's nothing. My question is would you take a chance on it for 35K?? It's a great looking rig, the only thing that got me itchy about pulling the trigger on this deal is the fact that it's an ISX Cummins with 740K on it... Your Thoughts??

You know with 740k your getting close to an overhaul correct? And you know when it comes to o/h a cummins a reman motor is usually cheaper than an overhaul and your looking at almost 25k for the motor. You can chance it but i wouldnt if i were you. Find something cheaper or with less miles. Not worth 35k with 740k on it.

It is a very good combination I have had great luck with. If you run ISX's correctly you won't be going through turbos and it was mainly the early model ISX'S that had EGR issues ( 2003). 740,000 is not too bad you generally have to overhaul ISX's in that '06 range at about 900,000-1,000,000 miles if they are a good strong motor. I would agree with the other posts on the price it sounds like it is very pricey if you could get the seller to come down to a reasonable price maybe in the 25k-30k range then I would try it out do some diagnostics on it put it on the computer, pull oil and coolant tests on it and if everything looks good, you can probably get another year or two out of it before it would need a rebuild; under normal working conditions running about 100,000 miles per year.
