I have had the same one for many years and wonder if there might be something better. My buddy told me that Pilot J owns almost all the card companies anyway. he said efs, tcheck, tch are owned by them but didnt know if there was a special discount if i use those cards. I dont know if they really own those card companies or not because they charge a fee. Why would they charge me a fee if they owned the card company and I use it at their stop? Back in the day I used a TCH card for flying hook and didnt get charged a fee and also got a discount! So, if Pilot J ownes all those cards why wouldnt I get a discount and no fee?
never really paid to much attention but now that fuel prices are so high anything would help. maybe just park my truck and go back to driving company untill prices go back down since shes paid off now. I dont get paid hardly enough surcharge to cover when prices go up. not to mention empty miles.
Trying to figure out what fuel card is the best

Good question, hope it gets an answer
As far as fuel prices, I don't see them ever coming back down to what they were just 5 yrs ago. -
www.nastc.com has a fuel card with a big discountTrucail Thanks this. -
Pilot- flying j or love's, its scary to pass in the interstate and see those prices. I started using a walmart fuel card with a 5 cent discount and a shell fuel card with 3 cents discount if you buy 300 gallons a month! now the catch is that a tractor and trailer wont fit in a gas station. I bobtail early in the morning. I prefer $4.07 rather than $4.33 in the truck stops! Next thing, start eating in restaurants and bring your own lunch from home for as long as the trip! There another saving. That canadian pipeline looks very attractive now!

NASTC Fleet One card http://www.nastc.com/v3/FuelManagement/QualityPlusNetworkP.php

www.nastc.com $300.00 start up cost . You'll get that back in cost savings the first month. I did , and then some.

You can save as much or more with a TCH card through England (and other carriers). Best part is not having ever deal with Fleet One. I would be hard pressed to find a worse ran company than Fleet One.
And I'm talking real discount. Not a discount off an inflated pump price that is here today and gone the next. Too much game playing with the discounts. -
As far as I know Pilot doesn't own any fuel card companies. They may have an interest in TCH, since it is owned by Transportation Alliance Bank and that was part of Flying J. It is supposed to be owned by an investment company since the merger/acquisition by Pilot. T-Check is owned by CH Robinson. The other cards are likely still owned by other banks. If you have a PDCA card from TAB, you are supposed to get a $0.02/gallon discount off the cash price. Most of the fuel cards charge a fee every time it is used. There is no fee for the PDCA card and it can be used at any fuel stop where you can receive the cash price.
Some of the other fuel cards offer some discounts with a minimum monthly or annual amount of fuel purchased. It is difficult for the small operators to receive a decent discount. If you run your authority, there are some brokers who offer their fuel card for settlements and you can receive a fuel discount from most of them. The down side is that you have little control over how the card is used unless it is issued to your company. -
NASTC . No transaction fees. Discount did disappear , in some places , last week , as fuel prices were skyrocketing . They're back now.
The friend who turned me onto this , has had his for over a year now. No problems with Fleet One. I haven't had any either.
If you get a card thru a Company , and get a better price , that's Great. As long as you're with that company. What happens if you leave ?
My card with NASTC doesn't depend on what company I'm leased to. The discounts are still there.
No minimums . You get the discounts from Day 1 .
I've found places where , even with their discount , I'm better off paying Cash. So , I always keep a couple hundred on me , and there's usually an ATM available , if I need more cash. ATM fees are Tax-Deductable. In the last year, I've had to use them twice. The savings were worth the fees.
Your call.Dice1 Thanks this. -
I like my Marathon/Speedway card. The last American owned oil company. Real nice discounts. Not to mention , nice fuel prices compared to the big 4.
