Any suggestions are welcome... These are my circumstances as I posted them in the mileage thread...
I've never done OTR and am not really interested in that now... but my options are dwindling....
Thanx... ^raVen^
Well in 19 years I have 1.75 million miles... Never been OTR... mostly home daily... maybe 100 overniters... (3 or 4) 3 night trips... (1) ticket for a seat belt... (1) non-preventable accident... (1) DOT violation for not having my recap done after midnight. I'm semi-patient... non-aggressive... very, very lucky... and unemployed. I've always averaged 450 to 550 miles a night. I'll take the night time driving any day
1.25 million miles are CDLA... 500,000 are in a 28' box truck. I became unemployed a year ago when the company I hauled for on a dedicated account went out of business... I worked there for 11 years... You might ask why I would be unemployed with this record... me too. My last 5 years was in the 28' box truck... to save money the people I worked for put us in straight trucks... I didn't care... I was still making $50,000 a yr. driving a straight job... I never thought about what would happen if the job ended...
With my record I felt golden... well surprise... employers felt I was out of a big truck too long... like I forgot.
Then when the job ended I had some surgery for bad circulation in my legs that I had been putting off for a few years... because I really had no one to do my job if I was absent. My company was in Allentown, PA... and there was 3 of us in MA... and no backup... we'd cover each other for a day or 2 if someone got sick or had an emergency... 2 of us would split the 3rd drivers run as best we could... we all did between 350 and 450 miles a run. In 11 years I missed under 10 days... so did the other drivers... not that we didn't get sick... we just worked through it.
Then after having 2 surgeries and recoup time... 4 months had passed... I also got involved in building a prototype of a product that I had thought of... It took quite a bit of research being that I'm just a truck driver... after I had done pretty much what I could with that... I began to look for a job more diligently... Previous to that if I saw something appealing I would still apply... I continually heard that I was out of a big truck too long... so I went back to the school I attended in 1994 and did a refresher.... still no luck. I'm at a loss of what to do now... My product will take some time before I can make some money there. Beware if you get out of your truck.

Where are you located? If its OTR you're looking for I'm no help , But if you don't mind some work, If there is a GSF's (Golden State Foods) distribution center close to you , try them...its delivering McDonald's restaurants, and its work, but 65 to 75 k a year is not hard to make and work only 16 days a month (4 day weeks). Home nights too. I worked for them for 30 years....great company!

Schneider will take you and I recommend them. You can make 45-50K a year OTR. That's about as good as it gets anymore.

Schneider was going to hire me and I had some important family issues come up, and I figured they wouldn't want to hear it... so I just stopped staying in touch with them... so I figure they wouldn't want to hear it now either... Thanx for your response

You need to quit figureing and just call a company you're interested in.This last post you said I figure they would'nt want to hear it.How are you suppose to know for sure if you don't call them.Your original post is a great selling point, you sold me.So I suggest you get on the phone tomorrow and don't take no for an answer.

RavenRyder Thanks this. -
The more you respond in this thread, there seems to be more that you are not willing to do. You might think on that as your options continue to "dwindle"pattyj and Leftlane101 Thank this.

Give the major carriers in your area or the area you want to move to a call and see whats available you might be surprised to see some will work with you.
I had a driver the other day who I was ready to hire based on his road test and experience that talked himself out of a job during the 1 on 1 interview by being negative on everything and second guessing the outcome.pattyj and RavenRyder Thank this. -
Listen to flatbed rrThe first post like I said was great selling point .But another post you became negative. You want a job you have to be positive.
