Im not concerned about having to pass a drug test, as I just avoid them all together, im more concrned about the eye exam, and the fact that I just learned I need glasses, and probably cant get a pair in time

most arent concerned about the drug test. i never have been, and i hope you understand i wasnt implying i thought YOU should be. but that eye thing could be a sticking point. id do whatever i needed to do to get the glasses i needed if there were any way at all. i understand this problem as well, my eyes havent gotten any better as ive become...well...a MORE EXPERIENCED human being (or old fart if you prefer). when i started this trucking adventure a few short years ago, i wore glasses, but was able to do everything with them. now close up stuff, like reading the atlas, requires me to take them off. im sure this means its time to get new ones :(

New car smell ---Now THAT'S funny right there! Had me laughing! But hey, I just figure when I'm going to go into a new career, I'm going full-tilt-boogie or not at all. I'm an educated man in a couple of other fields (basically ignorant when it comes to trucking though) & have been good at both simply due to the fact I went into them with a similar attitude. Have wanted to drive a truck since I was a kid. Maybe this is just me finally going thru my second childhood!? ;)

Not true. If you are disqualified based on something you disclose, prime will send you home on their dime most of the time. If we find something you didn't tell us about your showed the door with you figuring out how to get home.

Yeah, a blizzard would be nice about right now. Unfortunately they don't serve 'em at the rest stop where we parked for the night!! The nerve!! Trucking sucks!!!

Your glasses are fine your arms got shorter. I used to watch my dad hold the paper further and further away. :biggrin_25523:

    Be positive canine-monkey! LOL!!!

    SORRY! Couldn't resist!

As long as your DQ'd for something beyond your control, Prime pays your ticket home. If they catch someone in say a lie about their background, they throw a hissy fit over a sleep test, catch someone stealing personal property- you're walking home.

The money is for permit fees, your DOT physical... the same things a student pays for at any driving school.

Your room and meals are provided for by Prime any time your in an orientation or upgrade during this process. If you run out of a meal card just talk to the staff.

Somewhere on the forum is a thread that mentions the Salvation Army near a carrier being irritated by all the rejects the carrier dumps at theiir doorstep .
The thread was started by a homeless person that had no way home after he was booted at orientation .

If you just found out you needed glasses you can go to the local Wal-Mart and try on a pair that works for you until you can get your prescription pair. It is done all the time. Hope this helps.
