I'm interested in doing oilfield hotshot driving and trying to decide between getting a one-ton dually pulling a 40' gooseneck trailer or an actual Semi-tractor trailer. Any thoughts on best route to go and best trucks for the job? I'd be interested in the best gas mileage possible and toughness to hold up to some bumpy dirt roads.

most hotshot is done with a dually,40 trailer is about the right size,it will be a lot easier if you have contacts in place before you go

If you buy one that uses gas you'll go broke, try a diesel powered truck.

If you can't afford to buy a Peterbilt just get what you can.
