    I will say this,
I have some very good friends from both side of the LGBT , I even had a few family members who are LGBT they all drive trucks too, and I grew up "old School southern redneck" I have met up with them all over the country at many places, and to be honest I ain't never heard anyone act foolish.. they have heard all the BS on the radio and one of MY best friends in the World and his Husband(happen to be my grown kids UNCLES and My Grandkids call them Old Uncles) have been on the road togther for over 20 years now, they were team drivers when you "could" not be Gay in this industry... They have a great Gig been at the same place the whole time, they have never had anything other than some ignorant idiot make a comment and walk off..

I wish you the best of luck, something to think about "who give a rats hind end what other people think"
Oh for the record I am straight man been on the road for a while and I honestly don't give a rat hind end what other people choose to do in their Live it is after all not anyone's place to judge.. We are entitled to our opinions, but they should not infringe upon others......

Of course there are homophobes out there. And the ones who are most vocal about it... well, as Shakespeare said: "The lady doth protest too much"

I read this thread with great interest.I have friends across the whole spectrum of life.I value my relationships with some very wonderful, loving, people.Be yourself and you should be fine.
On a side note,OMGWTFBBQCOPTER, that's got to be the best handle I've ever heard, what's the origin of it?

The one thing that I enjoy about OTR trucking is that once you are in your cab, you create your own environment. If you want to lay down a nice rug, dim the lights and play jazz as you go down the road, so be it. If you want to surround yourself with empty pizza boxes and filthy clothes, so be it.

My point is this - you will interact with other people for maybe 15-30 minutes per day. You will learn to tune out the idiots - and there are a lot of them out there (i.e. don't turn the cb on unless you want specific info about an accident or weather conditions). On the other hand, there are a lot of good people as well. What I'm trying to say is that there really isn't a single "trucking culture." You don't have to act a certain way or do anything that you don't want to (within the bounds of professionalism, of course). Create that comforting environment in your cab and you'll enjoy life.

    Good luck!

    I am a bit of a homophobe.
Not a hate thing at all , it just makes me very uneasy.
I presently work have worked with gays and lesbians and the ones I know well know this about me and we get on just fine.
We do have our issues like everyone else but has nothing to do with their gender orientation.
I treat all (not only G&L) with respect and actually I deal with quite a few G&L in the trucking industry.

I wouldn't be too concerned. Most truckers I see are fat, toothless, and stink. As long as you're not a fat toothless stinking LGBT, you got those guys beat. :)

Who the hell cares what an individual does in their bedroom?! They are a human being! I gotta tell you, I would be more concerned with what some of these "straight" truck drivers do in their bedroom (or truck for that matter)!

Grow up!!! Why the hell does someone's personal bedroom life affect you?!

For those that are "homophobic" you have nothing to fear! Gay people aren't running around raping straight guys! In fact, most gay people I talk with aren't interested in straight people...that's gay!

Its 2013 folks... be less concerned with those coming out of the closet and concentrate more on you coming out of the CAVE!!!

People should be more concerned with people that are sad, not gay. It would be a better world.

I dress alot at work but most of the time i present male at shippers and recievers. main reason for that is i haul flatbed and dont want to mess up my chicky clothes. my id's all showed male till today that is. long story short i went friday for my twic did my photo and all. got an email last night that i need to re finger print, called them this morning and spoke with them and yes just walk in finger print again and leave. no more photos. so i go fully dress but no wig today. Get there start the prints and am informed i have to redo my photo. So i will let you know how that works out. Otherwise i fuel and all dressed. sure i have had comments made some good some bad. best one though by all means was this texas couple fueling by me. hot lady and country as country can get looking guy. lady was hot but alitte bigger than me in the waist but not fat. she makes a comment loudly to him about me, he peeks around his hood sees me and tells her relax one day she will wear the same size as me and to quit being jeoulous....so good days and bad

Hello I'm transgender as well, and starting my final week of CDL training. At school I've been presenting as male, however I've been taking hormones since 12/25/2013.I don't plan on making it known, until after I'm through with my driver trainer.I'm glad to know there's other girls out there like myself.
