I've worked for both union and non-union companies. I have to say the union is better at least in NY where everyone hates one another. I have thought about relocating to the south with some friends.

Im going to see how I like being out on my own as a road driver right now. Last year I would've never taken it but as time keeps going and friends are also returning to school, getting married, got jobs or move away. Plus I had a Gf last year and am single now so that's a huge factor.

Well I should get some sleep, heading to 150 to finish my transfer to 123. Still preping for it, my dads giving me some things to use while out on the road (even though it might be a day or two).

Union vs non union is not really big deal to me, like them both. Just hate when I choose one then it changes. In my area not for the good. I think you'll like road, you guys are lucky you can stay out hop terminal to terminal. We can't do that only go back and forth. Linehaul is easy money and you won't beat yourself up like p&d. Less stress driving cause you won't be city driving too much. Pay is way better too. Not many jobs without and education you can top out 70k-100k.

I agree. My parents don't want me driving, but when I told my dad how much I could make and how much easier it will be with my friends backing me up my dad is all for it now. Mom hates it but whatever, she's just mad my sister and I both have jobs and can't be home to raise her two other kids so she can do whatever...

Most parents would be happy their kid is working. My advise with the type of money youll make start saving and pay cash for a house. You'll thank me. Maybe not in NY cause of housing cost but look into it. Makes life a whole lot easier.

I know what you mean about the union. I have nothing against them either but don't want them in my yard due to the reasons you have stated. I worked for Roadway, CF and Yellow just to end up with no job. I'm glad to be back at Reddaway, thanks.

no not my mom, she wants us to be around 24/7 so we can watch her two little kids and basically be their 3rd and 4th parents. Before my sister and I were working we drove them all around to their sports practice and karate lessons. Her husaband is away a few days and spends the rest working from home as his position was transfered.

Im first saving for a new truck as mine is starting to get on its last licks and is turning into a money pit (08 with 70k, being in constant use) If im doing more turn and burns then overnights I will look for an apt close by, if not then ill stay where I am and save up for a house
