Hi , I have a vibration on my Volvo 770 2001 with Cummins ISX .
I can feel the vibration only a little bit when accelerating usually around 45-50 mph but mostly (90% )when going slightly downhill ( and the engine reach a neutral point ) or when I stop accelerating for a few moments or longer , also the stronger vibration will be after a hard pull on a hill when I release the acceleration pedal for a few seconds to downshift.
The vibration happens always at 50 mph and sometime at my cruise speed of 60-62mph no mather if I am bobtail or loaded with 80.000 pounds.
I can press the clutch , put transmission to neutral and vibration remain the same.
I put new 10 New tires + 10 New rims /ballanced/Aligned , the driveshaft is ok and everything is new or very solid , replaced power steering pump ,engine mounts , king pins , teflon for rear springs , brake drums ,Gabriel shocks.
What else can I try or do ?
01 Volvo /ISX vibration when going slightly downhill

Sounds like it is drive line related...Any play in the rear gear housing or the yoke at the tail of the trans?
Narcis.M Thanks this. -
Check the ride on the drives(assuming air ride suspension). Always the first place to look any time there is vibration, especially if it is coming from the drive line.
Probably needs a leveling valve.Narcis.M Thanks this. -
Yokes , crosses and bearing are either new either with near 0 play , driveline look ok , thx. -
I never checked the leveling valve , air ride balloons are new all 4 , I imagine that you try to tell me to check suspension height ? , is the levering valve the valve controlled by that thin vertical arm between the balloons ?

This has happened to me and it was the yoke that was frozen or seized on the shaft next the transmission and had no free play in it. When the suspension gose up-and-down, it put a lot of pressure on the power divider, Specially heading down a hill or coasting on level ground,
The air Leveling valve pretty weak I give those things one year,. I keep all my receipts from the Volvo dealer, when 9 months come around I just go get a new one all parts warranty for one year from date of purchase, Never had to pay for a new valve again.Narcis.M Thanks this. -
Hi , so what the dealer exactly replaced or fixed ? , the Leveling valve was the main cause ? -
I have the same vibration when decelerating and a worn yoke between the rears... I think that's where it's coming from.
Narcis.M Thanks this. -
A bad leveling valve, or the air ride height being off can give you goofy driveline symptoms. I thought I was losing a bearing in the tranny in mine, but only heard it while going over the hump on overpasses, it was the ride height.
Narcis.M Thanks this. -
Yes, the Levering Valve was the main problem, the second problem was that yoking seized on the shaft so when the levering valve start to go bad, it puts a lot of stress on the power divider.
