Diesel trucks that are not equipped with emission controls known as “diesel particulate filters” emit excess particulate matter (PM). When running, trucks without these types of controls leave behind a trail of dark, black smoke.

What a joke. But anyway, time to start building no-smoke high performance engines.

Yeah, I know of several folks with pre-emission engines, running some serious HP and torque, that leave less of an exhaust trail than many emission equipped trucks. Sure the DPF cleans up a lot of the black soot, but when they regen, they leave a smelly, smokey trail down the road. I hate it when a truck regens in front of me. That is some nasty stuff.

I get a kick out of seeing that belch of black smoke come out of a new truck as it regens....

So much for less particulate matters.
