You can run 48 if you live on the West Coast. I know some that do.
The older trucks, Freightliner Columbia are being phased out, they do have APUs. The new trucks do not have APUs and thats why they have a very Liberal Idle Policy.
New trucks: Kenworth T660, Freightliner Cascadia, Volvo, International ProStar. All with 10 Speed Manual. (The old Columbias are Automatic).

I have been with Interstate since November 2012 and I am an Owner/Op .. Like Joe, I am 98% Happy and plan to stay with them.
Even now during the "slow season" they keep us running. And I love the Paper Logs ..

Detention pay is by contract some offer after 2 or 4 hours varies by vendor. I have had one stop where I was there for 6 hours for a live unload and I really mean one stop out of the many I have done....... I just got in my sleeper and went to sleep and the loading dock beat on my door when they were ready for me to leave.... I didn't ask for any pay to sleep

I do not know bout the older trucks what they were decked with...... Yes we also have guys running DAY cabs down in Fontana Wilsonville and Tacoma but I think you have to work your way into one of the local gigs by invite or seniority they are not any open I am aware of.... I have been keeping my eye open but I think we have a fleet of OTR guys that are watching too that have paid their dues and they will get selected before a new hire would for local work with Interstate..... Makes sense to me! YES people mention slow season? I didn't see any slow down in my work load.... I had to ask to come home or they would keep running me
Paloma Thanks this. -
I am the same way .. Its part of the business.
But, when the bang on my Sleeper or Door .. I tell them to knock on the windows, unless they are ready to fork over $140,000 for my truck. Then I ask them where their car is so I can go bang on their doors and fenders. ... Yes, I'm a Dick .. But this Pete is not a cheap Truck!skyviper73 Thanks this. -
What's the vacation/time off policy?
-
Not sure for Company Drivers .. But everyone I have talked to have no problem getting home when requested without any hassle.
-
Noticed a local ad in Texas for them. Have a few questions though. How much unloading do you do? Are all lumpers paid? Do drivers get to pick there own routing? Or is routing set for you? Is there a set idle percentage you can not exceed? Thanks for taking the time to answer questions.

Anyone know what the policy is for company drivers? Also curious about idle allowance. What are the trucks governed at?
-
1. 99.9% no touch freight.
2. All Lumpers Paid by Interstate.
3. You are Routed (Owner/Ops can take own Route).
4. You are permitted to Idle to keep cool or warm (unlike most companies that restrict idle time).StrayKat Thanks this. -
I believe Company trucks are Governed at 63mph ..
