I talked to a Sammons recruiter about a year ago. She seemed totally disinterested in having me come to work there, couldn't give me any numbers for average O/O revenue and told me I wouldn't be able to get home once a month.

I was bummed at the time. Sammons has had a good reputation with me going all the way back to the 1970's.

Well you can go and buy a trk. and lease on... Not being smart. Their age limit for flat and step in no more than 10 years old...

Ok, Things are slow now. Hopefully things will pick up next month.
when I called about going to the H.H. side Dave in Davenport and Janie in Missoula where honest with me. They gave me numbers high and low.
So far I'm happy. Only been with them since June last year...

i was with sammons for awhile and things were great in the beginning but they neglected to disclose the "secret charges." i left them cause i found out about things that i was being charged for that i was never told about, things i was openly lied to about, things that i should have never been billed for. and the dispatchers and people in the offices only care about themselves and not the drivers. as long as the company makes money thats all that matters. they make promises that they never have any intentions of standing behind.

It would help if you shared these "secret charges" with the rest of the posters. Vague claims don't help prospective employees. Sammons is on the very short list of places I would want to be in a few years (gotta have a plan) and new information or conflicting information is helpful IF specific.

Another one post wonder!!!!! I call Bull Shpit on this entire post!!! Sammons has been around since the early 60s; and are one of the most ethical companies I have run across. I DO NOT LEASE TO THEM; but pull some freight for them as an outside carrier. I have NEVER had an issue; or known anyone else with an issue............so "honestdriver"..........where are you??????

Sammons is one of those companies that has had a good reputation as long as I can remember and I've been around a long time.I ran the northwest US for years and always ran into their trucks. I know they are now owned by a big freight forwarder so some things may have changed. They had a lot of long time operators at one time.

Thats not a one post wonder. Here is my experience details not left out. Signed on with Sammons Jan 1989, went thru orientation, got Sammons painted on the doors no decals. took road test, ready for dispatch. Sammons told me no forced dispatch and the blue trucks were not company truck. The blue trucks were an investor group. When wife was taking her road test, the subject of the blue trucks came up. The man giving the road test said the investor group was upstairs (the owners).

This is friday, move ahead a few hours. Ready for dispatch. We are at the TS having lunch with one of the owner operators. There are 3 trucks on the board. Owner operator #1 Blue truck #2 Me #3. Load to NC comes up, they pass the OO and give it to blue truck. Next load is a load of lumber to Denver. OO turns it down. I figure they will page me and I will turn it down. About 45min pass. I never offered the load, they call the OO again, he turns it down again. They tell him to either take the load or come to the yard and turn in his tags.

We are sitting at the same table as the OO. 5:00 comes this is fri. We had been talking to Mercer but never sent an application in. We put it in the wind bounced to louisville, called Sammons, told them what we thought of them.

When you speak of ethics you can not compare Sammons to Mercer. I was leased to them for 3 days and never pulled a load.

This was was 24 years ago, things could have changed.

They are now owned by UTI. Been that way several years I believe.
I have only been with them since June last year.
So far my book keeper nor I have found any secret suprises.. Well there is one agent who kinda fibs on the money. Was warned about her and I took one ld. from her and she was kinda off in the numbers she told me on the phone.. I learned. No more lds. from that lady..
So far I am very happy with them and making money..
