I was just curious... sitting a weekend in a motel room... with nothing to do... that almost seems irresponsible... or is it a preview of coming attractions if you go to work for them... just sayin'.... mmm

EGood evening all. I currently out with my coach. He picked me up at the hotel and we went next door to Tyson and picked up a load going to Florida. Due to the bad weather, he drove to almost St. Louis. I took over. After I took over, we were rerouted to Orefield, PA with a load of meat. We were rerouted because another driverfrom Atlanta had an emergency at home, so we swapped loads. I drove the whole way.(The mountains of PA are no joke)The coaches truck (T700)did very well in the mountains. We dropped the load off and had to deadhead almost 300 miles to our next pickup in North East, PA to pickup a load to Aurora, CO. I ordered my T700 today by message and it should be ready when I get back. The automatic is really no problem in the mountains like I thought it would be. We had a small problem starting the truc,
at the shipper but was taken care pretty quickly. Will keep you posted as to what the rest of the wee l
    lot

I see you have 19 years experience. Know that if you go to TA, your life WILL BE HIGHLY REGULATED!!! You'll be given route and fule solutions, which is ok but, you'll also have to ask permission for every little thing you do.

I have ruled out these guys... I'm going to follow some other advice... I got here snd from my mom about 40 years ago... Go and knock on doors... fill out the app... you are now on file, and you've had a face to face... and when and if they need someone you are likely the one they will think of first...

The internet has made it easy to reach out... but I think it's made... me anyway... somewhat lazy... The upside is it's been invaluable for getting info on other people's experiences... you just have to sort through it... and try to sort out fact from fiction... the disgruntled... and the possible lurking recruiter... but it's pretty easy to find trends... and say yea, or nay... Unfortunately the companies that have a positive overall... are zilch.

Yes I have 19 years of experience and a lot of years on the cb listening to other drivers... because I asked questions. I know that most companies are going to BS me at every turn... that is what is so depressing... and the wages generally suck... I was making far more money in 1986 driving a dump truck at $20 an hour... while trailer dump drivers were getting $25 an hour at this one particular company I worked for... full disclosure... we were getting prevailing wage on a state job... but still the facts are the facts and that was 26 years ago.

If you lease or drive company, Trans-Am claims you are routed the safest miles/pracitical miles which the video they have shows that route is mostly interstate driving. Is this the case or am I missing something?

Also if a l/o will you be "Highly Regulated"? Will you still have to ask permission for everything you do?

Kirk... Just curious what you mean by "ask per
mission for everything you do" As a l/o you don't have to take the route they suggest or use the locations they get a discount at. You can refuse loads or go home whenever you want. It only benefits you to go the suggested route and use their discount. Explain to me what EXACTLY you mean.

I was mainly wondering if they told you what to do and when to do it. I understand using their suggestions for route and fuel, that would be very beneficial. I have also seen that you have to ask permission to do any maintinance or repairs on the truck.

only need to ask to get the money out of the maintinance account not that you cant do repairs
road assist has always been fine with me
you learn like every place else what you want transam shop to do or the kenworth shop to fix
and everyone has different experiences with each shop

    ATM OTR Thanks this.
