I got tired of WEL last month, took a few weeks off, and back to looking again. I wanna give flat a shot after 11 yrs of holding a steering wheel. I've got boy and melton fighting over me right now. Anybody got some info bout which way to go?
Boyd or Melton?

IDK much about Boyd, but Melton is a good company. Trucks are well maintained, apu's and inverters. They give you the equipment you need to do the job ( their are things you can buy/aquire that will make things easier). Miles are pretty good if you work smarter. Rider and pet policy. Same pay loaded or DH, $40 tarp pay. Most terminals have laundry, I think all have showers ( hadn't been to two so) tulsa and laredo for sure have courtisy cars, el paso and Birmingham don't for sure. Only a few of the trucks dont have e-logs. Ummmm I can't think of anything else at the moment.

with melton if you have 10 months experince flatbed, will you still have to go thru a training "camp" or can you test out and hit the road.

Depends on your experience, but you'd probably just go through orientation. Then again, with as much as we change stuff round here, there's no tellin what you'd actually do lol..

apickupman, last year I stopped by their terminal in Masury OH. and they gave me a tour, 3 day orientation, if no flatbed experience 2 more days of training (Videos, in the yard Chaining up etc) then on your own, (they do give you a number to call if you need help on anything) trucks are less than 2 years old. Elogs, and they started putting videos cams in the trucks facing the road and you, (if you don't mine that..) and no you can't put tape over the cam, he said they will let you go. (did say it was only in some of the trucks, testing) all in all.. thats all I can say about them.(i'll still stick with reefer, miles are still good for me)
