It sounds like you have a good company. Theres one that runs by my house that uses elogs and offered me weekends plus a couple times home a week. AND they run 62mph so its all in the company as you said. I just didnt want newbies to get the idea there was no downside to elogs. We both know the newbie companies who run them are going to screw them.

Depends on the carrier... if the carrier is "screwing" them, in all reality they're "screwing" themselves as well. The truth is though, that new drivers are so unfamiliar with the HOS regulations, that they can't always make a trip work - and it doesn't matter how they go about logging it.cdreid Thanks this.

Looks like we kind of got off the original topic of the thread, which I think had something to do with reasons not to take part in the fleece er lease programs. Imagine that, at TTF!

Let's see... a reason to not lease. Hmmm....
Because if you're successful at it, no one will believe you.

Trucail, silenteagle and Big Don Thank this. -
If we are to assume he is referring to lease purchase uh no. Probably not with any company in the United States.
-
Leasing... that would be the use of an asset for a fixed sum.

It amazes me how the perception of leasing is "bad" since we only hear about the negative reports on here.... If we heard about all the success stories then I assume the sentiment would be in a positive direction...
To which I will say that a very good friend of mine who is leasing a truck with a flatbed company is happier than a pig in mud... He is half way through the lease and they have done all they said they would.. He is making money and nothing to complain about... It probably helps that years back he was an Owner operator, and due to circumstances that all changed but he is happy and it works for him... \
Leasing a truck is only going to work for those who are willing to make it work and know how to make it work...
With that Said leasing ain't for me...Dinomite Thanks this. -
And this is just the point that we are trying to make here. These companies take a newbie, right out of school, and try to force a lease on him/her. Shoot, they don't even know how much they don't know about trucking, but the companies will get them in over their head, right out of the gate.Dinomite Thanks this.

Of course giving a newbie a lease is a recipe for disaster. Heck only 25% of them make it 6 months as a commpany driver. and while experienced professional drivers are for the most part Extremely good at their job and hard working... the vast majority do Not have what it takes to run a business. Consider the "average" trucker makes 50 or 60 grand a year when most people are blissful if they make 30 or 35 yet we all know how trucker credit is

Leases Can definitely work. Im not sure if mine will or not or if ill even go through with it. But ive talked to a lot of lease drivers it worked for. Ive truthfully talked for one who seemed unhappy. He was fueling looked tired as crap.. the chronic type we all get. He said "three years working for the truck.. this week is my last payment thank god". Ive talked (over the years ) to three jb leasers. They were all very happy and made good money. All three of these guys though had been around a while though. One was on a dedicated.. could get home but didnt seem to want to more than a day a week. Another was a gambler.. he busted ### all week then spent the weekend in a casino.
Leases i think depend more on driver responsibility/work ethic, loads and the deal more than anything else imho. Well and luck
If youre not getting dispatched the miles or on decent paying loads youre screwed.
If you're idling or running out of route youre screwed.
If youre lazy and a log book nazi youre screwed.
Honestly all i see here and at classa is people whining and criticising based on what they read from some 2 month driver who was a collossal f****. Ive never worked for a "bad" company but even the ones ive worked for i see this whining ######## all over here and classa. Trucking is stressful. Truckers can be some #####y dudes. -
I'll retract a previous statement about lease purchase programs being a definite no no. Although it's true, there are some success stories, and it can work ,it is still usually best not to let the trucking company act as the finance company also. You have never worked for a bad company? Just hang around awhile longer.cdreid Thanks this.
