I looked around and was suprised it doesnt exist or i cant find it. But would o/o's and l/p's be interested in routing software?
I was an amateur/pro programmer (10+languages) since i was a teenager and it shouldnt be hard to do.
What it would do is read select load boards (DAT etc). You would enter your start point, minimum miles and earliest date and when you want to get back there. It would then compute every combination of loads to book to get you there. That's actually the 'complicated' part.
It shouldnt be hard to forbid certain states, companies. The one thing it couldnt do is compute the money as you need to call and negotiate that. It might even be possible to forbid some loads but as load boards arent that specific it would be basically guessing and if you outlawed a load from x to y of z miles by m company it would have to ban that.
Honestly if i did it (id have to do it anytime i was stuck somewhere and thats always been rare for me) it wouldnt be supercheap but heck i think it would make otr/regional guys money. Any thoughts?
Thoughts about coding some routing software?

... If they'd let you read and re-post their load data. Not sure if they'd want their loads mixed in with their competitors loads but maybe. Plus, they're quick to put stuff up but not so quick to mark it covered. There's probably only a small handful that ARE NOT mostly working with a select few brokers they are comfortable with and that works for them. Otherwise it's an interesting idea and maybe some of the few independent o-o's will chime in.

Hmm you may have a point about the data. Then again if the software directed you to their load board. Or that you'd need to have access to the load board. Or include a subscription to the load boards.
Ive been mindbooking loads for the last two days to make sure im not about to lose my butt and be stuck out for months and ive noticed i use a pretty standard algorithm to figure the things out. No reason a computer couldnt do that much more easily -
Any further thoughts on this Cdreid? sounds like a great idea!

Are you sure this is not done before?

This is already out there. USA Truck just started using a routing software (don't care for it either) don't know the name of it though.
