I'm not upset, the best thing that could of happened. Just telling how it was with me. Like I said things could have changed.
If people are looking at Sammons your opinion is much more valuable than mine. Your information is current mine is past tense.

CLARIFICATION: I am not currently nor have I ever been leased TO Sammons. My opinion has been formulated from dealing with them as an outside carrier pulling their freight; and from talking to their owner/ops. I pulled my first load for them in 1994 and have done several loads a year ever since.
My "one post wonder" remark was aimed at the "honestdriver"; not the topic of Sammons. Interesting he hasn't checked back in. -
"One Post Wonder". . . That comment cracked me up! I'm keeping an eye out for his return, but I may need some Visine before long.Jake The Bullhauler Thanks this. -
What is home time like? I understand that it is pick your own freight, But I have had a couple of LP drivers tell me that they want you out for atleast a month at a time, Is this true? If I am picking my own freight couldn't I load myself through the house if I want? Also what is the going CPM rate for legal and OD loads? What is freight like in and around Texas? What is the best and most profitable trailer to pull?

The hometime is go home whenever you want they tell you that they like for you to Stay out for 3-4weeks at a time because if your not working they are not making any money from you I know drivers that live in a good freight lane and go home every weekend for a 34hr reset but a majority of the drivers stay out 4-6 weeks and take 4 or 5 days off or as many as they want I have never been told no you cant go home or bothered to take a load while im home I call and tell them im going home they say have a nice trip give us a call when your ready to come back to work as far as pay is all percentage no CPM pay so you have to watch your dead head millage cuz that will eat into your profit margin now your paid 75% of the line haul the other 25% is sammons cut and your Paid 100% of the fuel surcharge and any stop or tarp pay. as far as Trailer it all depends on what u want to pull they do charge a trailer rent fee the cheapest being a 48' flatbed at I thing its $150 a week and they go up from their I pull a 48' Stepdeck and its $190 a week for that and they also have 51' stepdeck and 53' stepdeck witch is the most expensive at I think its $225 a week if your looking into the lease purchase the pay is a little different and send me a PM and ill answer any questions the best I can for you

Thank you wheelman55. Rodneylh Wheelman is pretty much right on. Texas is a big state. Most of the time it is good. It always seems to dry op for freight in mid December and comes bck the begining of March. There are still loads but the rates seem to dip. The trailer depends on you and your preference we'll let you choose. We are averaging around $1.53 mile to the truck plus the fsc ($.57 per mile this week). Talk to Wheelman, talk to other contractors on our facebook page or call the office. I recomend doing all three and see if what they all say matches.
Rodneylh and Travelinman Thank this. -

WOW! I just got off the phone with a Sammons recruiter. She was very straight forward with me. It wasn't the typical blowing smoke, this is the best story. She was very clear about the L/P pro's and cons. About what they expect and what I can expect. In this day and age, its nice to see a large company thats honest. You are not going to get rich on the L/P, but I see it as a great way to learn the ropes of an O/O. I have submited my app and am hopefull!
