So I've been on here reading all the horror stories about company training programs. Are there any programs that aren't a scam?
I talked the recruiters at CR England and they spoke to me as if They were doing me a favor by even talking to me. It left a pretty foul taste in my mouth. Thanks guys.

There are two that aren't scams :

    Central Refrigerated
Prime (flatbed or tanker is best)

the whole school training gig is all a scam
schools only teach you enough to pass the test
training co get students to drive trucks cheap
only thing that i have heard that sounds reasonable at all is courses
    from community colleges
for those in New England New England Tractor Trailer School seems to be a cut above the others

the only other thing is this is mostly an insurance scam
anyone driving pre 1990 just went to dmv and took the test
my uncle handed me keys to a 1968 Autocar 10 wheel dump
with a quad box and said here
i said i have no idea what to do
he says you will by the end of the day

to me the reality is no trainig can teach you to do something you cant do or vice versa

if you have been on the road a month and are running curbs and taking off mirrors
maybe you shouldnt be driving anyway

I'd add Roehl to that list. Three weeks of schooling, and then you're making money.

The problem with going to a college or trade school is that you pay $3000-$6000 up front (or wait six months to get a grant), then go to school for another three to six months. Take your test, get your CDL, and then find yourself in the same spot as a student at a training company would be after three weeks.

I second MsJamie's suggestion of checking out Roehl. Also check out GoBlue's posts. He just blogged his experience going through Roehl's school.
