Dunno what it will come to in 5 years. It is a rapidly changing environment. And not for the better. Never in my life did I think that I would refer to LEO's as "brainwashed government thieves", but that is the way it is. What is, is. As far as I'm concerned, they are out to rob my checking account with BS infractions that could put me out of work in a very short time even though I'm a safe driver with a proven driving record. There are thousands of us out there. It is a true shame.
One of my new trucks failed a Level 2 today,

Way it is written they will always target the worst 10% . Get them off the road this year, guess what go to the next batch! Really looks like they want all us gone in ten years ?
KnuckleBuster Thanks this. -
It is to be written on the log so that they can prove you are empty. They even write tickets if the BOL number is transposed.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this.

Not saying it shouldn't be, or that it is not in the book, question is, when did it become such a big deal?
-
When it brought the state revenue $$$$$.

When they huffed and puffed about the CSA 2010 and found ways to revenue and points.SheepDog Thanks this.

Glad the highways are safe now, those cracked reflectors can lead to more dangerous things like valve stems with blemish on them.

I wonder what these pinheads are going to do when July 1st gets here and the new HOS kick in regarding not allowing two 34 hour restarts within 7 days? Case in point......
I load out in Pa on Thursday, and make my deliveries on the west coast Monday and Tuesday morning. I take my 34 on the coast and reload Wednsday night, and deliver on Monday morning back in Pa. I take another 34 hour restart, and head back out Thursday. According to the new rules, my 34 hour restart at home will be invalid, and in reality I will have to wait 168 hours(7 days) until I can regain my 70 hours again. Guessing I can recap it, but that's a genuine PITA to.
Just think of the lost revenue to a truck setting for 168 hours. A week of work lost. Not to mention thousands upon thousands of loads not getting delivered to receivers. I can see store shelves getting empty real quick. Has the FMSCA thought these things through? For crying out loud, the safety ratings over the last few years have improved significantly. What more do they want???????????SheepDog Thanks this. -
I remember back in the day when empty, and asked, what are ya hauling? The answer was dispatcher brains. I believe now the answer should be common sense, or perhaps DOT inspector brains.....
