You wont get good rates for low runs unless they need the load moved and they dont have a truck. Long runs Out of cali is dead, theres not many. I suggest you sign up with some companies that operatre out of California.

Welcome to the "left coast". i'm based in Sacramento. What are your plans? Just Nor Cal or 11 western states? Or Cali only? u can call Gordon's, Interstate has yard in West Sac. There are a lot of small fleets here, where you can pull there trailers. Also u can check Devine Intermodal out of West Sac. Check out this ad: http://sacramento.craigslist.org/trp/3643437993.html

I don't know if they hire O/Os, but you might try Teresi out of Lodi.

Just had a thought, i have found quite a few different job opprutunities there, " craigslist jobs/ transport" everyonce in a while you find a good legit company that isn't looking for someone to screw over... Also check sherman brothers they are based in eugene , ore. And have a yard in fresno, ca also i hear. Not 100% sure if they use o/o or not, jump in fellas and answer that question if ya know. I have also heard fed ex uses o/o infact one hand wants to work me pullin doubles for them. As to how good their program is , i can't say. I have been off the big road since 90 and i'm kinda out of touch with whats happening in the industry. Read my profile it explains it....

How so you like Sac town, lol, last time i was there i wasn't sure if i ended up in downtown Tijuana, Saigon, or Watts in L.A.

Cali is wonderful, although you would never think so judging from some of the posts on this forum. I don't know where to pick up business in Saramento, but there is alot of work out of the container port in Oakland. Also, Fontana is truck central. Anything to do with trucking can be found there. Congratulations and good luck.

The only problem with the port of Oakland is that there's only a day shift so unless you do long hauls that pay enough to meet your daily quota.
