I've finally found a minute or two to post an update. Due to a series of Monday morning visits to my oncologist in preparation for a body scan (to hopefully confirm that I am still cancer free) my weeks on the road have been kinda messed up. This week I headed out Monday night with a CHA to JMS LTL. Then got dispatched to West Monroe, LA and picked up a pre-loaded trailer and am headed to Lumberton, NC. I'll get there tonight and deliver in the morning then they'll start heading me home. I have to take a radiation dose (via pill form) on Friday afternoon and then the body scan is on Monday. I can go back to work on Tuesday and get back on my thyroid meds again. This makes me happy. Being off those meds makes one very physically sluggish and weak. Even a simple drop and hook gets difficult. Will keep you in the loop as soon as I know the results of the scan.
Even with it being a short week it looks like I'll end up with darn close to 2000 miles in under 4 days. Not too bad.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. I am a thyroid cancer survivor. Back in 2011 I was diagnosed and had it removed. It had a tumor on it and the thyroid itself was 3/4 cancerous. I was about six months from having it metastasis and that would have been rough. I had 38 radiation treatments to my neck area. I was declared cancer free in July of 2011 and this body scan was to make sure I am still that way. Back on my meds now and starting to have more energy. I'll hopefully hear from my oncologist tomorrow with the results.
Back on the road yesterday afternoon. Was sent to Lebanon TN to pick up a load headed to Newnan, GA. Easy enough right? Well, there were no swing door trailers at Chattanooga so they had me haul an empty roll door up to Nashville and trade it for a swing door. Guess what...no swing doors available at Nashville either. So then they had me bobtail to the customer to pick up my wagon. Got it down to the Fulton yard and did a split sleeper break in order to get the delivery made on time. Took two more in the sleeper afterward and got 10.5 hrs drive time back. Last night they sent me a load assignment to pick up a trailer on the Fulton yard and cart it down here to Lumberton, NC. Tried to get unloaded today but nothing doin'. They are going to take me early tomorrow however. I am eager to get back to my normal schedule. This having to be in on Monday for Dr's appts and back on Friday for others has cut into my miles and income. My fleet manager has been amazing through it all though.
A buddy told me several of his friends who drive for Averitt have jumped ship because of the lack of miles lately. I expect January and February to be slow but they told him its been slow for too long. One guy went to a large carrier who promised 50 cents per mile, great home time, and plenty of miles. No APU...no inverters of any kind allowed. He's sitting days at a time and regrets leaving. I guess the grass isn't always greener.
How have your miles been lately? -
I will continue prayers for you! I am glad your doing better!

I will have around 2,409 miles on Saturday.

Glad to hear from you! We are sitting in Nashville right now. We had some difficulty locating an empty swing door ourselves in Tifton. Hopefully we'll get our Monday load early enough tomorrow to take the wife and work in her scuba skills in the pool. I've been meaning to call you when I get a moment alone. It's hard to do living in the lunar module, we are on top of each other.

I'm still currently looking for a different job opportunity. I like averitt but I need something different with better options for my current situation.
