Simple question, if you had no choice but to choose between the two, which one? FYI I'm only looking for spend 1-1 1/2 years at a place for initial experience
(and don't say Schneider, I've been pre-hired, denied then pre-hired again, they can't make up their minds)
Werner or USX

w4cdw,
It will be hard for anyone to choose unless they are in the same position as you. It seems like a toss up to me. They will both have their pros and cons. The jobs will be exactly whatever you make them to be. If you do not plan on staying then just pick one and stick it out. Only you can decide what is best for you. We do not know your situation. I would choose Schneider, but you told me not to! -
GA_Rookie, thanks, I hear pros and cons bout both. More cons about werner than pro. Sorry, but Schneider cannot seem to make up their mind about me lol. They fired one of the students I was in class with because my school does not teach 45 degree backing, only straight line, offest and alley dock as required by tennessee
Chinatown Thanks this. -
w4cdw,
Just look at benefits and home time and decide what fits your needs the best. You can make either company worth driving for. Just get in there, do the job, and do not complain (even if it is horrible). You and I both have to serve our time. You will make it through just fine. The first year will go buy so quick you will not know what happened.Chinatown Thanks this. -
i hear that usxpress has automatics. usxpress seems like a good company, i've talked to them before and were very helpful until they told me i wasnt in their hiring area

Where do you live in TN?
R.E. West and Milan Express are based in TN.
I would chance it with Schneider over USX or Werner.
Western Express & Crete may accept your school also.
Western Express has van & flatbed.
R.E.West has van & flatbed.
Crete has Van, reefer, flatbed.
USX & Werner may want you on their dedicated accounts where you, the driver, unload the truck piece by piece with maybe a couple thousand pieces on the truck. Some drivers like that type of trucking and some don't.Last edited: Mar 2, 2013
