So I have been deciding on Werner and I think it will be a no go for me. I was interested in the DG account as a new student and here is what worries me. I have called a few times, talked to different recruiters and each one has told me a completely different pay rate then the last. I've been given different mileage rates and expected miles, different pay per stop (one even told me you didn't get paid for each stop) back haul pay, etc. When I would tell the person I got a different rate the time before, they stated there could be no way because they were looking at the rates themselves.
So sorry and no offense to other Werner drivers, but I can't see working for a place that gives different answers each time I call. Also I have gotten different rates for the OTR division also.
Made a decision on Werner

There are better companies out there. As a former Werner driver you made a smart move not driving for them.
mje Thanks this. -
w4cdw,
You are on the right track. Just keep doing your research. I have talked to a lot of recruiters from various companies. I will be more than happy to compare my info with what you get out of them. If there are any other companies you are interested in just let me know. I may or may not have info on them. Good luck in your search!pattyj Thanks this. -

if you really want the scoop on Werner or any other company, got to a large truck stop with a restaurant, go in, sit down and start up a conversation. You will get a lot of pro's and con's but at least it will be from drivers who have actually been on the road. Remember, a recruiters main job, regardless of who he works for is to get you to orientation.

Regardless of the company, the job will be whatever you make of it. Everybody has different opinions and work ethics. I think even talking to drivers could be misleading at times. I have worked at great jobs before and you will always have complainers everywhere you go. The most perfect job in the world would have somebody that disliked it. Only you will know what is best for yourself!

I didn't actually found out what i was actually getting paid until after training. And that took awhile. When i talked to the office they told me to call dispatch, dispatch told me to go to payroll, payroll told me to either talk to someone in the office or call dispatch, finally dispatch told me. .21 cents a mile .6 cents safe mile bonus. The Recruiter told me .30 cpm Glad you asked the right question multiple times to different people.

the Werner driver's will be the ones outside the entrance to the restaurant holding a cardbord sign that reads
