BTW, Congrats on being given the opportunity to go dedicated..From what I read, it sounds like you deserve it Fewe.

I haven't updated in a while since nothing particularly new has happened. We have been running like crazy with the run-up to Xmas, delivering 4 loads a week. Should be tapering off in the next week or two.
As for pay, it hasn't necessarily been higher than I was making the last couple of months OTR but it is much more steady. On a full week of 3,000+ miles I would make $1,000+ but with my home time of 3 days every three weeks it wasn't consistent. 3 days home times is really more like 4-5 days not running depending on how many miles get you home and out again making for 2 good weeks and one crappy week.
My year to date average when I started with Dollar Tree was $750/week before taxes which includes 25cpm to start and all the raises along the way. I am usually making more than that per week now. Some weeks in the beginning I was slightly under, but I was paying my dues all over again. Once they realized that I actually wanted to work and didn't mind sweating and bleeding, they started running me more which equates to more money in my pocket.
I am very happy with the home time that this account has afforded me and the pay has become better with experience. I haven't run the numbers, but from what the accountant, Wifey, has told me I am pretty well averaging after taxes what I was YTD before taxes OTR or better.
Also, I switched just as Plus1 was being rolled out, so I don't know how that would have affected my pay but from what I have read and heard it would not have been pretty... -
Thanks for the great thread. Reading, as one poster mentioned, is really like watching a movie without the commercials. I start school Monday, I have my permit and endorsements already so I am excited. Swift is one of the top 3 companies I am considering and your thread and wisdom shared by folks like Injun, Denali Dad and AZS have made a huge impact.
Keep the rubber side down, stay safe and enjoy that home time.Fewe Thanks this. -
I too have really appreciated this thread. I start school in Lewiston, Idaho on the 30th and am studying for my Permit and Endorsements tests.
There is alot of bad talk about Swift, but after reading all of the company threads, I think that you Drivers are the most helpful and considerate that I have read, as a group. I got approved by Central, Prime and Swift. I'm choosing Swift from what I have read on both this thread and the other Swift threads. They just seem to offer the best training environments and seem to be more flexible on their Idle policies. I can't Imagine sitting in a Central Truck in the Summer in Texas, and not being able to Idle without being charged.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and experiences in this thread. -
Glad you're liking it brother! Excercise feels great. Sleep way harder is another bonus.
solarbronco, Psterling1957 and Fewe Thank this. -
Hey, what happened? I was enjoying your thread and bam, all went quiet... You still out there Fewe?

Why is it so many students are failing out of Millington and getting sent here to Richmond Va.?
