Your link is not working.
Again before worrying about losing face "ASK " how much $ they are willing to spend , I had 1 driver that ran around worrying about things when you ask him to look for stuff but NEVER asked the budget involved. -
Why would you still think about a truck that has been run in the Nd patch? The oilfields are extremely hard on truck and you have to stay on top of them. Also if you are trying to lookout for the company why would you buy a truck spec'ed like that?
-
Well, I was trying to post the picture, but I'll just post the ad link here http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=3900017
I did ask for a ballpark figure and they said "if you find something, just let us know." So... I'm not really wanting to come across like an idiot, hence the reason I'm on here!
Right now, I'm just trying to find a truck that is a good deal, so even if it is over their budget and they say no to it, at least then I will still have some credibility because it was a bargain.

First, what's wrong with how it's spec'd?
The truck has been in the oilfields for less than a year and will be run into the oil rigs again with our company, so I didn't see an issue with it... should I have? -
Even though it has only been up there for a short time they operate pretty hard running 24/7 with the trucks using the same trucks just switching out drivers every shift. And maintenance can get over looked.
If the truck is staying in the patch( you didn't state that) then the specs would be ok, I would still look for something newer though you could do better. -
Sorry for that!
If you don't mind, could I get your opinion on what specs you figure would be suitable for the following, and your reasons why vs. why not (anyone else can feel free to chime in as well!)?
This truck will be running 6-800 miles on the highway, 10-20 miles on oil lease roads, 10-15 hours per day, pulling either a flatbed or pneumatic trailer (no oversize/overweight), in Wyoming/Colorado (yes, mountains).
I appreciate the input.

Leadfoot,i would look for one with 46000lbs rears.
It will be the rear end and the suspension that will suffer the most.leadfoot80 Thanks this. -
Well, I would look for a t800 well built time tested for that type of work and gets around the patch great. I would also go with a 13spd and 3.55 or 3.70 rears no lower because you are still doing more hwy miles and mpg should be a factor as well.
For sure look for 46,000 rears, you should be able to find something at a decent price from a 2000 and up.
The truck you are looking at now is to old, geared wrong for the highway and I do not see where you would need the 18spd. I realize you said your going in the patch, but you said only a few miles vs hundreds of highway miles.leadfoot80 Thanks this.
