    Hi guys how the hell does an experienced British, truck trailer driver, with 35 years UK & European Experience, get a job, driving big stuff in america, are there any short cuts you english/irish drivers know about, I cannot qualify for US green car till my boy who lives in Texas gets his citizenship (through marriage) maybe another year, any short cuts thanks if you want to know anything about driving in UK or Europe let me answer your Qs johnhayesuk at gmail

    I met an English driver at the Pilot truckstop in Castaic CA yesterday. He gave me a beer while I was working on my truck. He seemed like a good dude. He said he was here working on a two year work visa.He was also driving a truck for Challenger whick I believe is a Canadian trucking company. Maybe you could call them and they could help you out.

    I am no expert on this subject but can't you get work visa? I know there are tons of Polish and Russian drivers here in Chicago who are straight off the boat.

    Hi guys thanks for the replies I'd love to work for a Canadian company to deliver down to Texas where my son and little grandson live, but i would prefer a US company however I'm working on it at the moment in case all else fails,, regarding the Russia's and poles, well believe it or not but the sun shines from their backsides according to the US and UK government but thanks, their are ways I could marry a US citizen or just stay but I'm not a Mexican I believe in doing things honestly ill wait for my son to be a citizen then I get green card status automatically j

    I am from the UK orignally, moved & married before I took up driving again..
    As I understand it you can not get a visa to drive truck in the US OTR, but you can get a temp one for seasonal farm work.

    I looked into this for another friend of mine a month ago & that was what I was told..

    For you to drive a Truck here, you would have to take your CDL ( HGV ) all over again, you would also have to take your car test again too!

    As for getting a Greencard "automatically " ,that's. Not how it works! You would have to apply for a CR1

    It's a immigrant visa! It involves....filling papers,having medical,interview at USA embassy in London, a Scotland yard police check that goes back to the age of 16!
