So Fri. I'm at the terminal waiting for them to load my trailer that was supposed to be loaded Thur. When they get it done I go out to strap it down and the stuff loaded on the upper deck of the trailer and the stuff on the first 6-8' or so below the step is hanging off the trailer about 4" on one side and about 1-2" on the other. I told them they needed to fix it, so they sent a guy over on a forklift and he tried to push the stuff in. Now its hanging over 3" on one side and 1" on the other.
So I went back in and told them it's still not legal and they told me they'ed fix it. Next thin I know the yard manager is coming out to look at it, he ask's me whats wrong with it, so I show him. He starts to walk away so I ask if he has any idea's on what to do to get it legal. He say's that I don't need to worry about it because he's gonna find some one else to run the load.
The load went 650 mi to Pratt KS from the Moline area of IL. Do you guys think I was being to picky? Should I have just ran it illegal?
So then to top it all off they send me to John Deere to pick up a pre loaded trailer with two stops in WI that had to deliver Sat. and it finaled out in MN on Mon. (today) So I get there, tie the load down, do a quick pre trip on the trailer and take off. When I got in the truck I noticed that the trailer ABS light was on. I figured I'd run it for a while and see if it went off. It never did.
When I parked Fri. night I looked into the abs issue. In my experience trailer ABS usually turns out to be a loose wire or leaking wheel seals. This trailer has three leaking wheel seals. Great. Oh well Sun. is a dead day for me anyways and I'm going by a TA on my way to MN I'll just stop and get them fixed. I'm almost to the TA and I call into maintenance and they say they have to call the head of maintenance and they'll call me back. They call back and say he said to just run it he wont authorize the work. Really.....? Three leaking wheel seals and the ABS light on and they wont fix it!
These two experiences have confirmed to me I made the right choice to part ways with this company. Sorry for the long post just needed to vent.
Am I Being To Picky?

Change companies. Several good flatbed outfits out there such as Melton Truck Lines, Boyd Bros., Falcon Transport. Hope I didn't name one you work for now.
-
your not being picky at all, lots of guys will do things that run outside the legal lines , you don't have to be one of them. Abs light will get YOU a ticket and so will the oversize so if the company won't support you preserving your dac/csa then find a new company.
starsonwindow and pattyj Thank this. -
Wanting and expecting a company to take care of their equipment is NEVER being nit-pickey.
It's not only looking out for your (and the general motoring public) safety.
It's looking out for the company so they can stay profitable. Broken equipment makes no money.pattyj and herfinharry Thank this. -
I don't suppose you can tell everybody what company this is so they know NOT to apply there can you?
-
you did the right thing refusing the load, definitely time for a change, there are better places for you to go trucking with Good Luck.

I will as soon as I'm not employed here anymore.(The end of the week) I'll be going over to Sammons, I am really looking forward to it, they seem like a great company.

don't you just love it when they say my company instead of the name of the company, what are these guys afraid of? were the wheel seals leaking or seeping? thier is a difference and why was it drove up the road. Was driver thinking trailer would fix itself.Me thinks he left part of the story out.You actually crawled under the trailer with a flashlight and looked in at the wheel seals,I really doubt that.
