I just don't go to NYC any more. I went there once with a 3-stop load and feel very lucky to have gotten out without any major problems, such as a ticket for driving where I'm not supposed to be driving, a low clearance bridge, an accident, etc. I will find somewhere else to work before letting them send me back into that zoo. I wouldn't take a load there for any amount of money. My license is more valuable to me than that.

Ya know, Z, Thats what I told Senator Shumer in a letter. I said, there is gonna come a time when Your gonna have a hard time getting frieght in and out of NYC, because no body wants to go. I live In NJ, and as a truck driver, local, that Is. Im afraid to run NYC. I know that is pathetic, but I am. it is a literal ###### nightmare. My wife gets annoyed at me, because every night Im studying that Freaking map like I am cramming for a mid term. Im researching the map with google maps. Its ridiculous. I go to NYC in my car alot to visit my wife's family and the places that map says we can go, we cant. I seen birds eyes veiw of the height restrictions. as I said early, it says a 13'6 can go to city island. City island is in Bronx, its like a little tourist spot, well when you go there, there is a big steal beam to keep trucks out thats no taller than 10 feet and there is NO WAY to make a turn around. and thats one example. Things in NYC are so bad that I want to move a days drive away from jersey so I dont have to run NYC locally. Thats sad that i want to move away to avoid a certain city. I hear people saying well just add a foot. Thats not always the case. Do you know the height listed on the brooklyn bridge underpass ( when you pass under it from the BQE ) says 12'2. if you add a foot, thats 13'2.... but yet a 13'6 fits under it with a 1/2 foot to spare. So it seems the only way to survive NYC is by running it 3 or 4 times. Who wants to do that?

There is gonna come a time when No OTR driver is gonna run NYC, and they are gonna have a huge problem on their hand getting frieght in and out. Then people will start paying attention to the issue and watch. Then NYC will change alot of things to get drivers to want to deliver there. You watch, they are gonna be backed into a wall and have to reconstruct.

I feel for you buddy. I sure wouldn't want to be in your position. I think NYC is going to have to do something to change things because it's just not even safe for a truck with a 53' trailer to go in there. Too many people in too small of a space.
It would be nice if they could just make a series of distribution centers surrounding the entire area. The big semis could bring products into the DC's, then the loads would be broken down into smaller quantities and brought into the city on smaller trucks. -
Yea, that would be awesome. Im trying to move out to the Midwest so i dont have to deal with it any more except on family functions...lmao

I followed the link and sent Senator Shumer a letter. I hope it helps even a little bit.
