No just people from overseas And just where do you think the people who founded & settled CANADA came from in the FIRST place ?

 

The problem isn't necessarily "people from overseas". Its the issue of overpopulating a market with people who are in overpopulated countries to begin with.
They come here, with hopes of getting out of their overly populated, underpaid jobs to a lesser populated country that still offers fairly decent wages in some sectors - only to see that years down the road we will have the same issues here that existed over in their home counties in the first place because of their willingness and desparation to get out of their current situation in the first place, thus cheapening the jobs here because they will take less, and we end up not liking them because of it. I'm against it, and I have no qualms stating that. Our immigration program is completely out of control. Of course - thats only my opinion, and I don't think industry, or government or even other individuals will really care who think like minded. Phew! That was a mouthful huh?

I only brought up the "Newfie" question because, while my work in Ft Mac is limited to a specific project, I see very few (if any) new immigrant workers but LOTS of Newfie's. BTW, when I say "Newfie" I'm refering to anyone from the Maritimes. I have a hard time NOT respecting those that will travel across Canada (Newfies) or half way around the world to work when I've offered people from Edmonton (advertising that they need a job btw) a job and have been turned down because they don't want to work "way up in Ft mac" which is, what, 4 hours from Edmonton??.

 

What the hell are you talking about Just pointing that you condem the people from OVERSEAS
( relating to, originating in, or situated in countries across the sea) without realizing where the MAJORITY of Canadians originated from.

Canada was founded by newfies Canadian history is not your strong suit either.

 

That's where your wrong flatbed. I don't condem people who go through the proper channels and come over here to make a better life for themselves.

What I do condem is when companies bring out of country trades people over here and give them very minimum training on Canadian labor and safety laws which in turn endangers everyone else on site.

I was replying to tam tams statement that he doesn't think there are tfw's in the electrical, pipe fitting, etc trades. I was just pointing out that there is lots of them in Canada.

If your not aware, tfw means foreign temporary worker. In English it means someone from a foreign country comes here and steals work temporarily from a person who lives here and pays taxes.
