I applied to US Express last week. they called and wanted to set up the Orintation, they also said that they wanted a copy of my birth certificate. I can understand proving that I'm a USA native, but to give them a copy of my birth record, this seems a little off to me? Anybody else heard of this?

I had to have my birth certificate to come to roehl. I don't know if that had something to do with them making us get our passports during orientation.

I've had to have a birth certificate for just about every job I've ever had. Even my first job at carls jr at 16.

If they just need it for the Federal I9 form then they are just like most of the many many people out there who don't know the forms they fill out. There are a list of documents that will work but most people use drivers license, birth certificate and SSN card. but a Passport or Passport card will work in place of all of them.

Trucking is a safety sensitive job subject to hundreds of FMCSA regulations. Get your Hazmat or TWIC card and you'll be going through an extensive background check.

You never know if you'll be hauling something for the military, pharmaceuticals, or high dollar items. They like to make sure they know who you are.

This ain't a bag boy job at Food Lion! Oh you're 54! :biggrin_25515: Uh, this ain't a Walmart greeter job! :)

Many companies will choose the document they want to always use to verify.

I know which is funny because if you read the instructions that come with the form you will see they are not allowed to do this. They have to accept any of the forms listed. I have showed up at plenty of jobs with my Passport card, and the I-9 instructions and never had a problem, but again I said Jobs. This is a career so I would have showed up with a blood sample if they asked.

The BC also has to have the raised seal on it, not the hospital copy given out. The trucking company does not keep it, at least they did not back in 2008 when husband was there. When applying for the passport though, they will keep it and mail it back to you under separate cover with the passport in another envelope. It will take several weeks to get all this mailed back.

When they came out with the form in 1986, our human resource expert, decided that he wanted the following information on all employees. We were instructed even if the other was there, we could list it, but all forms must have the required information.

He was the boss, I did what he wanted when I hired.
