I had a buddy that bought a Penske truck, had similar issues. I'll get back if he remembers what it was.

    mjfmjf Thanks this.

Might be an issue with the ECM.

Jesus mine aint even that bad more like every 5-10 minutes. Although 11 seconds to build air? Seems like hes got really small tanks or one hell of a compressor. Takes mine a good 45 seconds from 90-130 at 1400.

Ok, my buddies truck was a 95, former penske truck. What he found was either a loose wire or a bad connection at the speed sensor. So long ago he wasn't sure which. We both remember thinking it was strange it never showed in the speedo, but never saw any effect. Hope this helps you chase it down.

It's funny how off topic this got. Just so you guys can learn something, I'll expound on what jumbo said. I rapid cycling of the compressor cycle is caused by a leak upstream of the check valve, usually the air dryer. It cycles rapidly because it is only re-pressurizing a small part of the air system volume. If you're outside, you can normally hear the full cycle: thunka-thunka-thunka-PPSSHHHH-pause-repeat.
