I think your forgetting how fast an aluminum roof would conduct that heat AWAY from the ice and dissapate it into the air.
It is a problem, but I'm not going to solve it every night by climbing up there, just aint no way!

Because falling down HURTS! If you are the one that gets up there on that wet slippery roof in the dark with the wind blowing out in the yard when no one else is around you wouldn't ask that question -
Falling don't hurt. It's that sudden stop at the end that'll get ya everytime.

Had to have a TA clear the top of a trailer. Company said in no way was I to try and climb up to clear it off. Was 3200 lbs over . Onc cleared I was legal ! Was solid ice about 10 inches thick. Don't think one of the drive though machines would do any thing with that ? Snow would not been an issue but 4000 lb of ice ...
