Yep Joe for sure, we used to have a coustomer that had a place and a place 10 miles away. we serviced them for years, they kept one of our trailers, loaded it at one place, we picked it up at 0700 and took it to the other place, they empited and reloaded. then we took it back and droped it. We use to do it with an 84 R model single axel. the trip was 20 miles round trip. and paid $200. every day like clockwork, Nice gig for a one man deal with an owned tractor and no overhead, Oh yeah and when done You could go home and broker their loads going from Mass. to Cali, which was about 1 trip a week.

You know 8G will buy a truck like this. I need to look into this a little farther. -
That makes sense. I guess teams would have to make up for the good ol' days, especially for the chilled tanker loads. Thanks for the info!

Joe thats what we want, although if You could find one with a hydrolic 5th wheel it will make it eaiser, tell You what You keep it running I will keep it rolling, and I will find us a customer, that way I can get off this awful hiway and hang out at the garage with guy's like You, when I am done with my 6 hour day, Ahhhh, the good old days I miss em.

I have picked up many loads in New Jersey ran them into NYC and the mileage was maybe 35 miles or so each way. Believe it or not this is where the companies make big money! The coast to coast runs (for dry van freight anyway) actually pay less per mile especially if the load is not time sensitive. If thats the case then the load can be dropped at a rail yard and put on a train for the cross country trek.
