Newsflash...they will never get a company truck...this is tactic to eventually try and force them to fleece a truck...they just took a page out of England's book.

Well from what I have seen they are now putting company drivers in T700s now. So as lease ops turn in their T700s for the new T680s they turn these into company trucks. They are now in the process of retiring all their T660s. Not sure how old the T700 has to be to be a company truck. They will have mine on April 2. Will have about 90k miles on it by the time I turn it in. Will be turning it in back at Rockwall.

Depends on the driver. I have been driving 23 years have had 1 fender bender in a parking lot 9 years ago and 4 tickets only 2 where for moving violations 2 for lane violations. My miles are in the millions. I have had 2 training periods 1 in 90 for 2 weeks running team, then solo. One in 97 for a week running team, then solo. All a newbie needs is patience, common sense, to be able to multitask and to understand that you don't have to drive like a bat out of hell to del loads on time. I like the sink or swim method of training. Get the basic feel for the truck then get out there on your own and learn by doing without a babysitter. Now I know some will disagree. But to me driving a truck was never a big deal. It is heavy and slow and has these big mirrors that allows me to see a lot. Now when I get in a car? That's when I can't drive and can't see worth a ####.

my belief is there are too many trucks for any amount of people that are truly capable of learning under the sink or swim method that I too learned by
many will never have that inate ability to drive

Newsflash, there are company trucks coming available, I heard it out of Thomas' mouth day before yesterday. Some peopledo get pushed into the lease with the scare tactics, but if you call their bluff you will get a company truck sooner than you think.

Cranky Yankee and BigDaddy6767 Thank this.
